Hi I have had an underactive thyroid for over 20 years now and have been on Levothyroxine, various doses, all that time. Just recently, say over the last 6 months, I have had terrible problems with my hands shaking. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know what causes it?

I had shaking hands when I was over active have you had a recent blood test?
Dancer.
Yep couldn't do up buttons or jewellery & poked myself in the eye with mascara,
along with anxiety symptoms/palpitations - think I was hyper
- perhaps you need less dosage? just a guess - I know nothing or about pills...

I had this shaky hands thing when I was a teenager and young adult, it was oh so embarrassing and difficult to hide from others. Gradually as I got older it just sort of wore off. Never had it since I was dx'd hypoT and on thyroxine. Looking back at other symptoms I had when I was young I think I must have been undiagnosed hyper then and have now, in my fifties, burned out and become hypo.
Wonder if it would have improved my lot in life if my suspected hyper had been picked up back in the 70's when I was a teenager?
Who knows, aahh well life goes on.........
