I had my blood tested again last week and just rang the GP for the results and have been told there is a flag on her screen for me to see the Doc , she wouldn't or couldn't give me the results , i have never had this issue before even when i had to go in to the docs i was given the results over the phone as well...
So now i have a week of worry till I get in to see them...

I don't think receptionists are allowed to give out red flagged results over the phone. They can tell you if it's all normal, but not otherwise. If you had results over the phone before, maybe it was the doctor delivering them? Only doctors are allowed to deliver those kind of results because they are also supposed to explain what it all means.
Can you pop in before your appointment & request a print out? I request a print out when I phone for my results & don't bother asking what the results are over the phone anymore.. Saves getting frustrated! Luckily the surgery I'm with now have always printed results at a moments notice, they are your results! x
He may well query your TSH level if it is below normal and want to lower your meds. Don't do this if you are feeling well and post another question giving your blood test results. We can also provide info on how low/suppressed your TSH can be.
You can go and get a blood pressure machine and find you have dangerously high BP in a few minutes.
A thermometer and find you have a dangerously high fever.
A mirror and see you have yellow eyes from liver problems. Or "copper" rings from Wilson's disease.
I could carry on for a few hours here...
Furthermore, we are on the cusp of changing to systems where patients have direct access to their records.
And people STILL have problems getting a few numbers out of their surgeries.
It is simply a matter of chance and science whether the result you want to know is something that needs a laboratory or can be found/seen more or less directly.
Just ask for the print out. So u can research the results before yr consultation.
Most people on here ask for the print out and just ask for a couple of the numbers if they are a bit concerned. But just pick up the print out when convenient to u prior to the appointment. After checking it yourself sometimes a chat on the phone is good enough.
Yes I always get my results a few days before an appointment so I can think what it all means, what I want to do and, most importantly, post them on here for feedback.
Sometimes the receptionist on I've me the results over the phone, and I have to talk to a doctor over the phone to get them (my result low bays look a bit odd as I'm on NDT). Xx
