Hi everyone I'm a bit worried I have my first endo appointment next week and don't know what to expect, by what a lot of people have been saying I don't know what to ask or what to say, apparently the endo I'm going to see specialises in diabetes so why am I going about my thyroid, I've got a feeling this is gonna be a waste of time and I've been looking forward to this appointment to sort my thyroid problem out but I've got a feeling this is not gonna be the case.
I really hope I'm wrong.

Hi A diabetic expert is an endocrinologist so also an expert in thyroid and many other conditions. Diabetes is auto immune and often thyroid is too. They have a huge range of expertise, more than any other consultant. especially the secretions of the body. Mine treats me for Hypo, Diabetes , osteoporosis, low Vit d and high calcium and low ferritin and lots of things. be sure to take a list of the things you are suffering from. Makes sure it is only the well recognised ones! unless you know the endo`s reputation well! Also be prepared for lots of blood tests, if you have any recent ones take them with you. Think about your objective so that, you are very clear in your own mind what you want to achieve.
Thank you so much for all of the info, I was going to write everything down because I know I will forget something, I have got a blood test today and the gp jas asked that a cop of the results be forwarded to the Endo.
I had my first visit last week following a blood test from gp that showed I had an over active thyroid. I was told before that I would have a scan followed by a consultation. The scan involved an infection and an imaging camera. The consultation was similar to gp visit asking about symptoms why I had a thyroid test then she talked me through the numbers(not that means a lot to me yet) she then talked about what drugs now and future treatments if drugs no effective. To be honest I found out as much from the nhs website as from the endo. I went with a list of questions which helped but I will have more questions next time.
Hope that helps a little.
