swelling
sorry im on 100mg of levothyroxineand have been for 7 months
they are often a sign of under-medication - still being hypo.
swollen ankles and feet that hurt were one of the symptoms i had when i was under medicated on levo, i was on levo for 4 years 250mg, my feet and ankles got gradually worse and worse until as you say they were painful to walk on. my dr gave me diuretics - which helped a bit but gave me cramp which i had never had in my life till then
they were one of the many symptoms i had that just got worse and worse while i was on levo, my gp admitted to knowing nothing about hypothyroidism and knew of no other medication other than levo - which was not working at all for me. i when to see dr s and he changed me over to armour and t3, most of my symptoms have gone including the fat feet and ankles which are not back to normal but hugely improved - i have also been able to almost stop diuretics so long as i do enough walking - which i can do now as my feet don't hurt!
i would go straight back and see your dr and start complaining
First of all I would get a print-out of your latest blood test results complete with ranges and post here. It may be that you are under -treated but many GP's keep patients within the reference range when our TSH should be 1 or under.
This is a link and there are other topics at the top of the page. We have to read and learn as much as possible, I am afraid, in order to get well. Many GP's only have a rudimentary knowledge of how to treat thyroid hormone problems and don't understand the effect it has on our metabolism. When we return to the surgery with different ailments we are told 'it is not the thyroid' when we eventually find out that it may well be the medication or under-treatment.
