Could you give us a bit more info please. How long have you been taking Levo, do you have any other symptoms apart from feeling nervous and how long has this been going on. The more info you give us the better placed we are to offer some advice and support.

Moggie i have been on thyroxine for maybe 3 years. Started on 50 then 75 and now 100. I feel as if I can feel my heart thumping in my stomach - I know that sounds weird but it's the only way I can describe it. It makes me feel so nervous and shaky. My gp is not sympathetic and I don't want to have my dose reduced because it would be a battle to get it increased again. I was thinking of maybe taking 50 for a few days to see if that makes a difference. Told my gp I don't seem to have as many problems on gold shield but she says that was all nonsense. Thank you for taking time to reply x

Your doc is wrong to say you are talking nonsense regarding Gold Shield. Different makes of levo have different fillers in them (which is what I think causes the problem) and people on here have reported that the cheaper brands are far more likely to cause pounding problems. I myself have had this problem for over 6 months now and had a heart monitor fitted for 24hrs last week. The nurse doing the ECG commented that "all I seem to do all day is ecg's on thyroid patients". Sufferers on here have reported that when they switch to Goldshield their palps stop but unfortunately I'm not one of them.

Levo can take 6 weeks or more to build up in the system so reducing your levo for a few days wont make much difference.

If I were you I would try and see a different GP at your surgery, hopefully one that will listen to you and try to help instead of trying to belittle you. You could always try to change the brand via your chemist (this is what I did). Ask to speak to the pharmacist and explain the problem you are having with the cheaper brands and see what he/she will do for you, tell her that the problem eases/stops when you are on Goldshield, I have a sneaky suspicion that once you tell the chemist that you are having problems the doc will not be able to dismiss your comments so easily. My pharmacist was very good and got mine changed there and then. If I were you I would try the pharacist first and if you get no joy there I would try another doc in the same surgery. The first doc I went to in my surgery was absolutely useless but the doc I have now is great.

Hope my suggestions have helped in some way and let us know how you get on.

Please could you post your latest thyroid function tests together with ranges (these need to come from your own report as they vary by lab).

I have suffered with severe anxiety whilst being under-medicated and over-medicated. We really need some more info to go on :) x

I had anxiety with results similar to yours last year. For me a change to Armour has really helped. Your FT4 is quite near the top of the range and your FT3 quite near the bottom. If you are like me then you may feel better if you can get your FT3 up a bit more and your FT4 down a bit. Is your doctor likely to prescribe you any T3? xx

I suffer from anxiety but my doc won't act on my thyroid meds as TSH in range! Been on 50 levothyroxine for 7 years with no change. Now on AD as doc thinks I'm depressed with anxiety.... Still have anxiety!

No wonder I'm depressed...

When I was on Levi alone I only improved when I stopped altogether and went onto T3 alone.

Hi. I get these symptoms when underdosed. Your dose Is not large, so that could be it? Difficult to say without results available though.
