Why so symptomatic?!

If anyone could help I'd be really grateful, rang for my latest tft results today from endo secretary, nobody there so I'd spoken to a gp who didn't give me the results but said they were good . I told him how bad I'm feeling & he said he can't help. My question is it possible to be symptomatic with normal tft ? , sorry but I feel like such a nuisance with all this ,nowhere else to turn but here

Hey there again Helly :

Have you now a diagnosis of Hashimoto's and been prescribed T4 - Levothyroxine - thyroid hormone replacement ?

Without some actual blood tests detailing a TSH + Free T3 + Free T4 result and range we can't really advise you of what is going on and you next best step to better health.

We also need your ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D bloods run and need to see the results and ranges to advise on supplements as no thyroid hormone replacement works well until these core strength vitamins and minerals are up and maintained at optimal levels.

I know I've written all this before - so hoped you had made some progress from last time we spoke - but it reads as though nothing much has happened.

Please ask your doctor for a printed copy of these results that he said were ' good ' as you feel awful and need help and need to have a copy of your blood test results - it is your legal right.

Hi pennyannie, yes I have hashimotos, tpo was over 600 . Not been prescribed anything other than carbimazole when I was hyper. A Dr has tried to expedite my appointment with the endocrinologist but it's still going to be quite a few months . I was a bit cross after that call today to put it mildly ! Folate & so on were all OK other than vitamin D which was low. I usually get the exact numbers from endo secretary directly but no reply today so I will go to the gp surgery and get a print out of the last 3 months blood results. I am taking a course of steroids at the minute for my heart so I'm thinking that's not helping me any ,I feel rotten ,lots of head pressure & sore eyes & very very tired 💔 thank you for your reply

But you stopped the Carbimazole about month ago didn't you and now it should be out of your system and your thyroid hormones should have come back into full production again.

I'm sorry to be a nuisance but saying ' folate & so on were OK ' - means absolutely nothing and we need to see results and ranges of all I 've mentioned in order to help you.

Please ensure any eye drops or lotions, potions and sprays you are using to ease the discomfort are all Preservative Free which is marked on the packaging and the contents.

Wishing you better than this :

No worries - just want you better than this - just as you do - and when ill is very easy to get fobbed and we've all been there, too many times.

I know all about being fobbed off & I'm annoyed at myself for letting it happen again today . Don't know why I'm keen for an endo appointment because I know it will happen there too ! Reading all the posts here it seems like it's happening to a lot of people regarding the thyroid & I will have another fight on my hands ,probably be told it's anxiety for the millionth time

Well it seems to me that you were misdiagnosed at the onset with Graves when in fact you have Hashimoto's - and the AT drug should never have been prescribed but we need to move forward and you probably now need to be prescribed T4 - Levothyroxine.

I think I gave you this link before for Hashimoto's and it covers the research and suggestions of Dr Izabella Wentz who has this AI disease and whom many forum members follow and find useful - and who writes as thyroidpharmacist.com

Sending hugs :

Yes they did & even when I went into hypothyroidism they kept me on carbimazole at 5mg ,didn't tell me if I had graves or not until a random ED dr had a look for me & probably wouldn't have done the tpo had I not asked for it ,communication is terrible within my trust ,thanks again ,I will read over the links again to try & educate myself a bit more, just been so unwell / a wee bit scared xx
