Pre-test preparation

Hi everybody, hope you are all getting through January ok

I have ordered the Advanced Thyroid test from Medichecks, should arrive today. I intend to take the test on the 27th which gives me 11 days to make sure my system is clear of substances that might influence the results

So I know I need to avoid B complex in the run up to the test, but can take Jarrow Methyl -B12 I believe?

I also noticed that a Magnolia Rhodiola preparation I take to help with winter blues contains 6mg of B5, so should I stop this as well? I can buy a preparation without B5 in it

I am generally checking all my tablets so make sure I don't end up consuming too much of any one vitamin.

Thank you

you only need stop biotin 3-5 days before test done

In the days before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 if last test result serum B12 was below 500 or active B12 (private test) under 70

so if i haven't taken any type of B vitamins today, does that mean i could actually do the test next Tuesday/Wednesday? Sorry to be dense Long Covid has messed my thinking! I know it is best to do the test in the early part of the week , I always take it in to the post office. Thanks SlowDragon

You can continue all B vitamins except biotin right up until the day before the test.

Continue with the B12 & folate, just stop the B complex 4-7 days before the test.

Yes you could do your test Tues/Wed.
