I would be most grateful if you can scan over my recent bloods including my high cholesterol 🙈 no pigs in blankets this Christmas 🎄🤣 for me .
I’m currently on Armour 3/4 grain (am) and 1/2 grain (pm)
Specialist wanted me to have 1 grain on the morning dose but I chose to have 3/4 instead as I understand going up 1/4 grain better especially if you’re sensitive to changes .
I would welcome any comments / suggestions .
Warm regards , Kelly

Your LDL is low throughout the reports which is great. I wish that I had your numbers as I've been prescribed to self inject Repatha as I am allergic to Statins. I have strokes and heart attacks throughout my ancestry, so the docs are a bit nervous that I'll end up in ER with the paddles to my chest. Is there a definitive report linking high cholesterol with strokes and heart attacks? I need to look into that one.
Cholesterol levels have nothing to do with pigs in blankets or any other type of food. This is a subject often discussed on here, but to begin with, have a look at a reply I wrote earlier:
Your non HDL - often called bad cholesterol IS rather high, and yes high cholesterol is associated with hypothyroidism. For a comprehensive, up to date and informed view of the ins and out of cholesterol you can't do better than this podcast I'm sharing in my next response. Try not to panic - there ARE things you can do. Start by adding oat or wheatland into your diet if you're not gluten intolerant.
Here's the podcast I mentioned. I found it enlightening. Admins, I hope this is OK? It's really very good and modern thinking about nutrition based on solid research of large populations youtu.be/euSd9bsFwxc?featur...
Usually on anything containing T3 the TSH would be quite low if not suppressed. So your TSH at over 1 is too high and a dose increase is indicated. Usually 1/4 grain increases are the way to go with NDT.
When and how much NDT did you take before this test. Ideally take a dose 12 hours before blood test.
Vit D could be slightly higher. Vitamin D should be around 100 - 150. Buy one that includes vit K2 to help it go to your bones. Some are available in oil or you can take it with an oily meal for better absorption. Many members like the ‘Better You’ range of mouth sprays that contain both bit D & K2. Use this calculator to work out how much to take to get your level to 100-150. Most people need a minimum of 3,000iu per day.grassrootshealth.net/projec...
Optimal for serum B12 is said to be 500++. I dont see a folate result.
B complex suggestions: Slightly cheaper options with inactive B6:
Many members ask questions about blood results related to raised cholesterol so I have tried to put together a small amount of information that I hope informs.
Cholesterol is just one modifiable risk factor for heart attack, stroke & peripheral arterial disease.
Physical inactivity - try and be more active, join a local walking group, exercise classes tailored to your energy level etc Local councils often have well-being hubs that might be able to point you in the right direction of what’s happening locally to you.
Smoking - ask your GP or pharmacist about stop smoking groups near you.
Alcohol intake above recommended levels - men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis. nhs.uk/live-well/alcohol-ad...
Obesity - difficult when under replaced or low FT3 but the Mediterranean diet might help.
Which brings us to hypothyroidism, and under replacement can cause raised cholesterol.
The NHS states:
If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), treatment may be delayed until this problem is treated. This is because having an underactive thyroid can lead to an increased cholesterol level, and treating hypothyroidism may cause your cholesterol level to decrease, without the need for statins. Statins are also more likely to cause muscle damage in people with an underactive thyroid.
If your GP hasn’t tested your FT3 or even FT4 then its recommended to buy a private test so that you can know the full picture of your thyroid health. When you have the blood results start a new post for members to comment. See link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...
There are other companies such as OneDay Tests & Randox (cheap). Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...
Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.
Recommend asking your GP what your Qrisk3 score is:
There are also alternatives to statins which aren’t quite so effective but worth a discussion with your GP about them if you are higher risk of a cardiovascular event.
Raised cholesterol goes with under replacement, though your fT3 is looking pretty good your fT4 is low... is that how you prefer it to be or has your Endo suggested adding a little levothyroxine? The ratio of T3 & 4 in NDT don't necessarily suit so adding T4 isn't unusual to tweak things
