After 2 years on medication for Graves’ disease I finally have the letter from endocrinologist saying I’m to stop taking block and replace, Really nervous about it which is ridiculous because I didn’t want to rely on medication in the first place and now I’m worried about stopping. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this or can offer advice, I don’t want to go back to how I felt 2 years ago. Thanks for reading, here are my latest results.

Hi, all I can see in the image is your current medication and the advice to stop, nothing else.
Hello there,It seems like you were on block and replace. When I was on block and replace, that is what I had to do,just stop all medications dead to see if I was in remission from graves.I hadn't been on the medication as long as you(only one year and my levels were still all over the place). The longer you are on the medication, the better your chances of remission. It wasn't successful for me,but it is for many people. You need to keep a close eye on how you feel. You will remember your symptoms, and if you feel they are returning get back in touch with your doctor immediately for a blood test.
Unfortunately the only way to see if you are in remission is to come off your medication, although some people on here have had their carbimazole reduced slowly with regular blood tests to see if their thyroid is still overactive.
Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for your kind reply, I have a telephone number for the hospital and a blood test booked for July and a box of leftover medication in the cupboard, I dont want those awful symptoms to return especially the racing heart, I know I have to stop and see what happens, it’s like someone is taking my comfort blanket away from me, hope you feel better yourself Graves is an awful complicated thing.
Unfortunately for me I relapsed within 2 weeks of stopping my tablets and my FT4 was in the 50's again.Your endo seems to be doing all the right things(mine never checked my antibodies before stopping my tablets)and you are prepared with blood test and tablets. It's looking good for you, sending best wishes.
Yes,for you everything looks good many, people go into remission. At least you're forearmed this time, know what to look for and have everything in place.Go for it,everything is on your side.
