Hi everyone, spoke to my GP regarding cortisol levels, felt sure I was dipping from mid afternoon onwards what with salt cravings etc. He wants me to go to hospital for blood tests tomorrow, would it be better to go later in the day? Think he wants me to go in the morning but I think levels are high first thing?

Thanks for info. I will do a saliva test. With regards to the blood test would you recommend going late afternoon (when I’m at my worst) or the a.m. as my Gp suggested?

For cortisol there are different ranges for different times of the day. And, normally, blood tests are only done in the morning because that is when cortisol is supposed to be highest to get you out of bed and started on your day. Cortisol is supposed to decrease throughout the day until it is lowest at bedtime, to allow you to sleep. So, the 24 hour saliva test is the best option to find out what's going on. :)
