hey everyone - recently diagnosed with hypo and was treated with 25mcg of levo - did nothing so was upped to 50mcg still felt very sleepy and tired and a lack of energy.
finally upped to 75mcg but now feel hyper - struggling to sleep anxious losing a bit of weight but constipated.
Am I still under medicated?
The right side of my thyroid also is still a bit painful to touch, before I couldn’t touch it all as it was just agonising. Any help please.

Yes I did, there was some improvement in t3 and t4 but still on the low end. My endo states he likes to treat people based on symptoms not just numbers. Which is great because I have definitely seen improvements in a lot of areas, I am no longer freezing cold, I can survive the whole day awake (not always with it but awake) sometimes I have issues sleeping on an evening though. My hair loss has slowed down immensely I just am not feeling 100% myself. Some of the weight seems to be dropping but in return I have been left with awful saggy skin! I used to weigh 50kg.
Your story has many similarities to mine right now - for example I just recently realized that I am not freezing cold all the time anymore and that my hair isn’t thinning anymore… and also I am not 100% myself : ) Also, my daily naps have all but stopped.
That lost feeling - we have all had it. And although this forum can’t make your hormones adjust faster than the body is able (it takes months and months, it really does), I do believe that this forum is 100% the reason I don’t feel lost and confused anymore. Before this forum I was feeling around in the dark. Confused by my blood results being “in range” and doctors saying “you’re fine” when I knew I wasn’t.
So!
I am thrilled your doctor sounds better than your average! So you will definitely have one less obstacle to feeling better : )
But you should also as a next step get, and share here, your exact blood test results with ranges, coupled with the dose you were on and for how long when taken, and the ranges.
Can you share those details for the last blood tests you had?
I will also say that it takes 6-8 solid weeks for a new dose to settle in your body. Hormones are not something that act in isolation - thyroid hormones are part of a long, complex series of reactions in your body. You take your Levo and over the course of days it start moving though your body making all sorts of changes to pretty much every cellular process head to toe.
So it would be great to see what your numbers are. And then in 5-7 weeks you can set a plan to take your next test - TSH, FT4, FT3, ferritin, B12, folate and vitamin D. Those are the essential set of tests that will truly guide you - along with your symptoms - to move towards your OPTIMAL dose of thyroid hormones.
If you’re new to all this it’s very overwhelming. So step at a time. You are on your way. Reset your expectations to another 6-12 months which I see is a a pretty typical duration five or take for many of us to emerge from the fog of a new diagnosis.
