If neutrophils are raised it’s often sign of infection usually short term.

This has occurred long term?

Certain medications can affect levels.

Inflammatory conditions often cause raised neutrophils.

hi thanks Purple nails …this as been ongoing since Jan 23 plus wbc don’t take meds but every time since Jan when have had fbc done at least six times 4 come back raised both wbc and neutrophils . Have read that with thyroid wbc cells attacking thyroid but didn’t know I have Hashimoto back then could of been raised before 2023 I don’t know patient access doesn’t go back before then 🥰

Jemjet,

It can be usual to have unusual blood counts in Hashi. Although it is the lymphocytes that infiltrate the thyroid gland and may cause raised lymph nodes, other WBC’s may raise also in response to the unnatural auto-immune response.

Also conditions such as anemia and macrocytosis caused by the hypo/Hashi will raise neutrophils, and elevated thyroid antibodies can invite further inflammatory cytokines (chemical messengers) that exacerbate the immunes response raising WBC’s even higher.

"much worse coughing swallowing voice terrible" are all classic Hashi symptoms.

Xx thanks for reply , my scan shows raised lymph nodes plus swollen thyroid back in October it is now a lot worse and very uncomfortable on both sides of neck now .was bit worried coz of changes in voice and the fact that the wbc as been raised for over a year and neutrophils too and nhs rely hasn’t been of any help ans unwell all the time consistently so hopefully this private appointment will help xx🤗

Jenjet,

I would recommend reading ‘The Root Cause’ by Isabella Wentz who offers an understanding of autoimmune conditions and how to manage it all.
