What would be the best way to respond to a hashis hyper swing when taking levothyroxine. Reduce dose temporarily?

Yes. But do it yourself, don't get your doctor involved. Because once they've reduced a dose, they are very reluctant to put it up again!

I agree with grey goose, I did a short big reduction, from 125mcg to 50mcg every other day for a week. I think I actually had three days of nothing initially. Then slowly increasing to 50 then eventually up to 75 and reducing my T3 to zero then 2.5mcg then 5 etc over a period of months. The whole process took from July to Sept, then by December I was under replaced slightly and am still adjusting. All the while my prescription stayed at 100 and my GP who knew about it agreed to let me sort it. My private specialist at Roseway Labs was also unworried and said to let it take 12 weeks to resolve and not to panic about being over range. 🌱

Do Roseway help when you are having a swing?

They did to an extent, in that they put my mind at ease. They explained that anything out of range can be normal for some people and to stop worrying about numbers and go by symptoms. They explained it can be transient and a stick and retest is fine if no symptoms. I had symptoms so we discussed the best way to address it. Reducing both T4 and T3 until feeling better.

The pharmacist prescriber listened to my plan for reductions and agreed it was sensible. She said I could get in touch at any point for support and also offered to write to my GP to explain the plan. That was last summer.

Interestingly I been feeling a little jittery recently and as if my afternoon T3 is a little more than I need. I tested last week and I am in range albeit very close to the top end. So I know now to listen to the symptoms and adjust to suit.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask more questions or for specific info, always happy to help 🌱
