I have hashimoto’s and for several years my platelets count has decreased each year. Every time I mentioned this to my GP he just said ‘your blood results are usual for someone with hypothyroidism’ I have changed GP a couple of times and I always challenged this view because if they are low then they are not normal. Finally a new GP sent me to see a haematologist who did bloods and bone marrow aspiration. Her diagnosis CMML a blood disorder linked to leukaemia. They have still caught it early but it could have been a very different outcome. So if you are not happy with your test results or you are having symptoms of anything keep pushing your GP. Go to your appointments and tell your GP what you want, don’t leave it to them!!

GP neglect
I'm so sorry you had to experience that and here's hoping that as they've caught it early you have plenty of treatment options and good outcomes.
I find it shocking and hypocritical that doctors will gloss over certain out of range results and airily dismiss them, whilst pouncing on others, like low TSH and immediately lowering a patient's dose. I'm sure this is something many of us have experienced first hand.
Surely a result that is out of range deserves more investigation? Wishing you all the best going forward.
Personally I would write to the GPs who failed you and tell them what they missed. If they dont know they messed up, they will mess up again. Try and keep it polite and factual and not put what I would like to say!
Good luck going forward. Hug.
Shenow, just a quick question... your profile says you are in France. Is this correct? Was it a French GP that neglected your low platelet count?
I asked my Rheumatologist recently “why do they do labs if you’re not even going to react to them”. No answer … my answer you’re lazy!
