My sister is struggling at the moment if I could get some advice from the brilliant Admin.

Can you tell us if your sister is taking Levo and diagnosed already or not?

She's hypo with. TSH above range.

Not diagnosed but waiting for appointment with endocrinology . Currently on LEVOTHYROXINE 125mg thank you jaydee1507

Thats a high TSH for someone on Levo. Clearly she needs an urgent dose increase of 25mcgs.

Is she taking her levo on an empty stomach 1 hour before food or caffeine containing drinks?

To really know where her thyroid levels are she needs to get a full thyroid panel - TSH, FT4 & FT3 and would need to buy a private test.

If she has been hypo long then she also needs to test ferritin, folate, B12 & D3. The more hypo we are the worse the vitamin levels get due to low stomach acid.

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

Thank you yes she is currently waiting for an appointment with an endocrinology depth. I thought the bloods needed attention . Thank you for your knowledge in this field.

Is your sister diagnosed as hypothyroid and on levothyroxine or trying to get diagnosed

Was test done early morning?

Is this first abnormal thyroid test result?

Has she had thyroid antibodies tested

Or vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested

TSH over 5

If on Levo she needs 25mcg dose increase in Levo

If not Levo and first abnormal test …..she needs 2nd test in 6 weeks

Meanwhile get vitamins and thyroid antibodies tested

She has had thyroid problems for 30 years was told her thyroid had stopped working properly so I suggested that she had an appointment with an endocrinologist which she is now waiting for an appointment from the local hospital. She is on LEVOTHYROXINE I think her dose is 125mg but will check tomorrow thank you Slow dragon

Hi slow dragon thank you for your advise. My sister today had a telephone call from her gp who told her that her blood test on her thyroid were perfect when we know there not she is currently taking 150mg LEVOTHYROXINE. She has an appointment tomorrow with this gphave you any advice on how she should proceed? with this gp.
