Quote from the article :

The study found women with endometriosis are twice as likely to have an IBS diagnosis compared to women without the disease, and 1.4 times more likely to have a diagnosis of GORD.

IBS has been classified by many of the psychiatric fraternity as an FND (Functional Neurological Disease or Disorder). Diagnosing a patient with FND is usually just a way of diagnosing a patient with a psychiatric, all-in-the-head condition.

IBS = Irritable Bowel Syndrome

GORD = Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease

So, from my point of view, this article is pretty much saying, we understand there are connections between endometriosis and these other bowel and gastrointestinal conditions but we need to make sure these mentally ill women are shoved back in their box again and ignored.

I found it interesting though that Endometriosis is also linked with migraines and asthma, as well as arthritis. Most definitely not FND. These seem to come under inflammatory and/or autoimmune conditions so maybe Endometriosis is one of those.

I 100% that FND is a dustbin diagnosis. I alway say FND should be renamed "f♡●■◇♧g no diagnosis" , a way to gaslight and blame patients.

I was one of those people with severe endometriosis who was diagnosed with IBS and then it got switched to FND. That was back in the 1990s, so FND as a dustbin diagnosis has been around for a few decades.

Used to be known as conversion disorder, the patient was converting mental distress into phyical sickness. I guess FND is a more euphemistic, socially acceptable name.

I hope in years to come that they discover FND is a phyical problem in the same way epilepsy used to viewed as demonic possession in the olden days, whereas we know its to do with electrical impulses in the brain.

FND is just a question no one has found the answer to imo. Much the same as CFS and Fibro.

That article itself is positive and inspiring. It’s unfortunate if the cause has been attributed to FND by the psychiatric community. I haven’t seen the original source that has been mentioned in the comment. However I would disagree about the use of the word FND today. Whilst the solution to a FND doesn’t come under the general medical profession. The fact that it is labelled as so is correct as there is no drug to treat the disease as it is a multi faceted condition. However today we have an increasing number of FM practitioners that can help us with these health issues with good success.

Just spotted this article in the DM: dailymail.co.uk/femail/heal...

It is truly tragic how women are being failed by the medical community.
