Hello everyone,I'm just having a complete brainstorm here.I'm trying to add a bit more on the end of my profile.Updated info, and I can't remember how to do it.I can get onto it but when I press on the end of it (Read less) it just shrinks it down again.I remember I used to have to get on something than said "more" and I pressed on it and could add more, but I can't seem to find that part.Any help would be appreciated. My brain today feels like it has a big black hole in it.
How to update profile.: Hello everyone,I'm just... - Thyroid UK
How to update profile.
Top right of page with your Avatar/ picture (or whatever it is)... More, gives you a drop down list with top one update profile, add changes to the scrollable bit at the top? Once it shrinks back the changes are save and you can go into view profile
Or if you are in view profile there is an Edit button in blue, just across from the Health Interests, User Info and Bio titles
Thankyou,I've managed to do it.Head feels awful today, probably hangover from yesterday's migraine. Can't seem to think straight.
Wow, you did well to get all that down 👏 why is your Endo not giving you a T3 trial? If I were you I wouldn't hold off, as you say you are over the top with fT4 and not converting it, even with improved Vit D, how is your B12, folate and ferritin?
From what I can remember your fT3 has never made it above 4!
Hello,Eeyore100.Thankyou,but I didn't write all that yesterday,I have just been updating as I go along. As suggested I tidied it up into paragraphs yesterday. As for T3 trial,I have been going to ask,but my endo has only been corresponding by letter so I haven't been able to ask.He is a diabetic endo though so I don't think he'd really know alot about it although he is a nice man.
I've had 2 migraines back to back since monday(thankfully not as bad as they used to be) and I'm thinking it might be down to my T4 being over range. That's what it was like before.I'm thinking I might reduce my levo myself but I don't want to mess everything up,I also don't want to feel like this till December.I might just reduce levo on one day and send an Email to him saying I'm getting migraines.
He only tested TSH you see and won't know my T4 is over.My vitamins I tested ,and they were above what's recommended on here, and I'm going to do them all again at the beginning of December incase I decide to ask for T3.
I might ask him about about a T3 trial on NHS in my email actually and see if he says anything. If I get nowhere I read on here that Roseway labs can give a trial of T3 if they think you have a need. That might be a bit cheaper and more straight forward although I know I'll have to fund it myself.Well I think I've got a way forward straight in my head now,I'll see how it goes, thankyou for your concern and advice,it's very much appreciated.
Looks like you have given T4 the best possible chance to work for you... definitely worth sounding him out about T3, he may just need a nudge or will show his hand as a non believer 🤗
I'll try and do that when my brain's a bit more in gear.I agree it does look overwhelming.I just keep adding to it as much for my own reference as maybe for others to read.Thankyou.
Hi Cavapoochonowner
Just a suggestion but after reading your bio I would suggest you copy and paste the latest part of your bio into a post (and say full bio sits on profile). I am a hypo, never experienced Graves and after reading some of the lived experience on here think I got the lesser of the two evils.
As TiggerMe says you are not converting. Upping the levo isn’t going to change that Only makes things worse . 😱
Just the markers they are choosing to have you tested for suggests they haven’t a clue, or they are purposely trying not to know.
Your endocrinologist isn’t a diabetes specialist by any chance? Ergo not a thyroid specialist……
I happened on a reply you gave to another sufferer and when I saw you had actually done a bio just had to read. I’m trying to keep learning. But it would really be worth putting out your situation to the wider forum. Being hypo can be managed successfully for many. Being able to self advocate is essential.
Feel free to click on my face to read my bio.
Hello there, thankyou for your reply.I have read your bio and like alot of us it looks as if you have been left to your own devices.Good job you have been able to advocate for yourself. My endo is a diabetic specialist. He's a nice man,but I think out of his depth with my case.He has not replied to my last email asking for a trial of T3,and stating that I don't feel great and my T4 is 27(over-range).Don't know if that's because he's overworked, following NHS guidelines,or doesn't know what to do.
I am going to have the full-range of bloods(thyroid and vitamins) when my next bloods are due beginning of December.I'll probably do a post then.I am considering Roseway labs for T3.Apparently after a consultation with a pharmacist and blood test(which I'll already have) they'll prescribe T3 if your bloods show you need it.I think that will be the cheaper option than finding an endo who will prescribe.I can then say I asked NHS for T3 but was ignored.I have already looked and my doctors surgery has done no prescriptions for T3 in last year so I think it's a no hoper. It may not work for me but at least I will have tried . That's all you can do isn't it.
Hi Cava
I think it is the pragmatic approach if you can afford to do it. Having an over range FT4 is not good for you and the half -life of T4 (levothyroxine) is days not hours so alternating dose every other day smooths out. Not so with T3, which is hours. If they don’t know that they know dangerously little and them being nice to you is no compensation for making you ill. I’m not being harsh but too many do not know enough to be competent. That is a systemic failure.
I think if that is the route you have settled on I would get it sorted sooner rather than later. Get some advice from the combination people on here to smooth the transition. Put a post out 🤗
Hello again,I will wait for my next bloods (5th Dec)then go from there.I will have been on a stable dose of levo for about 6-8 weeks so it will be a true reading.I'll do a post then and take it from there. Thanks again.
Tag me in - I’d be interested to see how you go. 😊👍
