Hello guys... me again 🙂I just had my blood test done and the results came all in range, after 10 months on carbimazole. Currently I'm taking 2.5 my every 3 days and my dr said she will try to stop the medicine in another 2 months. Because my dose is so low at the moment she said there is no need to take the treatment to 18 months or 2 years and we will just stop it in 2 months. I know the longer you take the drug, the better would be but I was wondering if you guys can share your experience on how long you took it and how you stopped it? (Slowly lowering or stopped it all at once).
As always, appreciate the help.

I was given definitive treatment and there was no discussion on finding remission as I was told at my very first endo appointment that I was to have RAI thyroid ablation the following year - I didn't know enough to question the decision and trusted the doctor knew best :
So I did not have the opportunity to try and save my thyroid.
I was on 5mcg per day and just stopped. I don't know how long I was on the treatment each time but I had 3 tries of coming off the treatment over 5 years and relapsed each time. I ended up having the radio active iodine treatment in the end.
Hi I’ve just stopped it 6 weeks ago after 18 months treatment. Was on 5mg daily for the last 6 months after reducing from 20 mg to 10 mg in first year. Doctor said that in Uk they have decided a year is long enough if good response . So far no relapse . Hope this helps.
