Not Sure What Do

I started on a new bottle of thyroid S 5 days ago and feeling anxious and my heart rate is slightly elevated. I have been doing so good and now this. I think I'm too high and this bottle is stronger. Should I decrease a quarter or wait to see if it levels. I'm thinking of decreasing. But is it ok to decrease a quarter or should I do a half?

Hello Debber :

I would suggest adjusting by just 1/4 grains -

How long have you been Thyroid s and do you have Hashimoto's AI thyroid disease ?

What batch number is this new bottle ?

Hi Pennyannie,

Thank you for replying.

I have been on Throid S for 10 years. I didn't know it had a batch number. I'll have to look for that. I wonder if on the box. But it definitely is stronger.

I'm wondering if I should take half my pills as I'm on 3, half in morning and half in afternoon and go down a quarter. I might do that.

It's on the box and also on the bottle :

How do you normally take the 3 grains ?

debber profile image
debber in reply topennyannie

I normally take in the morning before food.

Today I reduced it by a quarter and split the dosage in morning and afternoon. It was a little better today but now at night I have a flutter.

Do you think I should reduce another quarter? Is it ok to reduce a half a pill?

pennyannie in reply todebber

Yes - it is OK to reduce by 1/2 tablet as you still have these symptoms :

If you used to take the tablets twice a day - reduce both doses by 1/2 grain :

If you took it all at once reduce down 1 grain :

Then wait a few days and see how you feel :

debber in reply topennyannie

Thank you Pennyannie.

I took 2 this morning and feel fine. Will take the other half this afternoon. It starts at night with the fluttering. I used to have it during day too but during the day is good now. So it's getting better.

I hate med change as we also feel it in other ways like tiredness hair loss and cold. So far I haven't had that but may be coming but better than the fluttering.

God be with us all who deal with this thyroid stuff.

I lost a really great doctor in 2012. I haven't been able to find one. One doctor wanted me on Armour and not doing it. I read it doesn't work.

I went a long time since a child with this and being on meds has changed my life for the better.

Thank you so so very much. YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!

Hi Debber. I was taking 2 1/4 of the beige colored thyroid s . In october i started a new batch which were green color. I felt they were stronger and because my hear rate was up to 96 on waking up and shaking and tremors, I dropped the dose down. So now I'm taking 1 1/4 . I still have some aches but hear rate is good and no more shakes or tremors. If I try to increase by 1/4 i get frequent , very loose stool daily. After 2 or 3 days I dont see bowels returning to normal and so I go back 1 1/4. I wish you the best in sorting it out.

debber in reply tomintgreenish

Yes these are green in color compared to the ones I had. I reduced a 1/4 today. I still have the flutter going on. The same you had.

Maybe I should reduce another quarter so a full half pill?

You went down one full pill. Did you do it slowly? How did you reduce it?

Thank you so much for whatever help you can give me me.

Hi debber. My batch number is different from yours . I had also read some posts few months back that some find the green thyroid s stronger while others find it weaker. Because your batch number is different I think you should start a new post asking of others experience with that batch .

debber profile image
debber in reply tomintgreenish

Okay. How did you reduce your meds? I reduced a quarter and it did help but still there. I want to reduce another quarter tomorrow. Do you think reducing half would be okay?

mintgreenish profile image
mintgreenish in reply todebber

I dont know whats the best thing for you to do. Everyone is different. I myself felt very overmedicated . I always took mine split to times a day. After my morning dose when i felt so horrible I didnt take anymore for I think a day and a half . I felt better and was worried about racing again so started back on 1/4 in morning and 1/4 in evening . I think for about a week . I think within 2 weeks I was up to dose I'm at now. I still have some nagging aches but tried a few times to increase by 1/4 but immediately get loose bowels. Start a new post with your batch number .

debber in reply tomintgreenish

Yes, I'm over medicated too. I can tell as I'm alert and all this energy and don't want to sleep. I take my meds at 830 in the morning and feel great as it's wearing off. I did split the dose today and decreased a quarter and felt better all day except now at night. I might decrease another quarter tomorrow and split again the dose, a morning and afternoon dose.

Can you stay on the same batch number? This is all news to me.

I am still learning myself . I only started thyroid s about 1 and 1/2 years ago. I've learned alot from the lovely folks on here. I think the strenght may vary from batch to batch . Its good your splitting your dose at least till you feel better.

Hi Do you have a batch number for your Thyroid s. i.e. TA etc etc. I was on Thyroid s for years and even 1/4 made a huge difference.

Though I'm aware there are occasional problems with active dose even in Levo. But there's more risk of lack of product consistency if bought from 3rd parties - e.g. you don't know their supply chain, whether goods have been stored incorrectly, too hot or exposed to light or damp. Easy enough for people to sell on counterfeit products - apparently a big problem in the Indian pharmaceutical industry. Bit strange if there's no batch number.Another issue along with the above might be that your supplier is getting a BETTER supply nowadays, and you're actually getting more active ingredient than your body is used to. Happens a lot in the illegal drug trading world.

Hi debber, please can you let me know the batch number, which is on the jar.

Helvella has a chart of the different batches and comments about them and a couple of us have been collecting the percentages of T4 and T3 in each batch, which could be making the difference in your case.

Okay. I'm not sure if this is it but it is written on the bottle. I have 8850239005428. There is also TA2205.

Do these numbers look familiar ?

I lowered my dose today just a quarter and split my dose in morning and afternoon. I still have the flutter in my chest.

Thank you so much.

Framboise profile image
Framboise in reply todebber

The batch number is the TA2205 one, but there's a number missing after the 5, please could you see if it's visible? Also do you still have the old bottle you've just finished, if so please could you let me know the batch number of that one as you were doing well on it?

debber profile image
debber in reply toFramboise

The last two numbers are 55. Sorry. I left the extra 5 off.

It's TA22055.

.I can contact the supplier and see what the previous batch was. I don't have the bottle.

Gosh, I decreased a quarter and helped a lot but I feel I need to do another quarter. Do you think I can?

Thank you for helping me. This is awful.

Love back at you

You're one of the first to comment on that batch, but I know that the percentages in it are T4 106.6% and T3 102.0% (as opposed to batch 22057 which is T4 101.5% and T3 100.6%). If you can find the batch number of your last batch it would be really interesting to see which year they were made in and how different they are. Incidentally another person has said their batch of 22055 is the normal beige colour, which leads me to wonder again about storage. It was manufactured in July 2022, so I wonder where it was kept until they sell it 6+ months later.

When you started it, did you go straight from the old batch to this one, or did you introduce it gradually with your old batch? I think you have to lower your dose and split it throughout the day in whatever way makes you feel best. People seem to be having to reduce some batches and increase others. It's extremely worrying!

debber profile image
debber in reply toFramboise

Thank you, Framboise. Yes, it is very worrying. It makes me want come off of it all after this happened. People cannot have this happen.

I'm going to reduce another quarter tomorrow. I'm definitely over medicated. Who knew it could such a difference! You expect a little something but not this.

I would love to come off it all.

I'll keep you guys posted.

I'm going to contact them as they need to know. They are super nice people. I will find out my prior batch.

No I didn't introduce my last bottle with the new. I should have.

God be with us all. You all are amazing in here.

Framboise profile image
Framboise in reply todebber

I feel the same! I twice tried to come off NDT but just got worse and worse. If it's any consolation this doesn't seem to be as bad as the change that happened with Armour in 2009. It's still ridiculous though and is quite illogical.

If I get any other feedback about that batch I'll let you know, but I think it's only been in circulation for a few weeks and is already sold out. I've alerted the person I know who is also taking it. If you get any response from them please do let us know!

Best of luck :)

Hi Framboise. What about the percentages on batch number TA 22006 dates 18/01/22 to 18/01 /25. ?

Framboise profile image
Framboise in reply tomintgreenish

I'm sorry I've just checked but I don't have that one. I can ask for it, but I may not get it immediately because I try not to ask too many questions at once. I've got a couple of comments about that batch being weak, were you one of the people who mentioned that? There doesn't seem to be much logic in the batches, a morning one can be weak and an afternoon one stronger!

mintgreenish profile image
mintgreenish in reply toFramboise

HI thankyou framboise . Appreciate your kindness in asking about that batch. I always found it to be stronger from the onset.

Thank you so much Mintgreenish. It is a weird feeling for sure.

I am cutting down and splitting my pills morning and afternoon.

You all are awesome.

Mintgreenish, the percentages for 22006 are T4 99.8% and T3 104.8%. I wonder if the difference in how people feel depends simply on whether they do better with more T4 than T3 and vice versa. 22006 and 21079, the most unpopular batch, are the only batches so far where the T3 percentage has been higher.

mintgreenish profile image
mintgreenish in reply toFramboise

Hi Framboise . Thankyou so very much for that info. I new a few days in that the t3 was very strong. I know now to be very careful when starting a new batch. Much appreciated. Hugs!
