feel horrible…sleeping endlessly, hot sweats, crepey skin, and feel like not altogether present. Any ideas?

hashimotos for over 30 yrs…levels are strange and being told normal…😏
high thyroid antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease, also called Hashimoto’s
Presumably you knew this?
You need coeliac blood test if not already on strictly gluten free diet
Request/politely insist GP test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamin levels last tested
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
was test done early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
hi! Yes my labs were taken 24 hours after dose. I take tirosint since 2015. Vitamin levels are being checked now so will have to see. Only had ER tests which potassium showed low no other vitamins checked. Went in for tingling numb face 😏.
I have never seen my tsh so low (.8) and tend to be between 1.5-3.0 last 30 plus years. I was diagnosed initially with hashimotos at 19, now 53. Only recently started understanding T3/4 and now look.
I have been 100% grain free for 1 plus year, including all grains (except flax and oat occasionally will do quinoa), no corn, no rice , etc. and no cow dairy. I dont really seek out gluten free foods as most have rice and grain free I thought works easier for my body. I am now thinking of slowly implementing gluten free grains as may have issue with missing core vitamins
I am so much calmer than normal, but now the calm is turning to sleeping 15+ hours a day, horrid night and day sweats for months and hard dry skin. Feel like have chemical head is only way to describe- like drank bottle of nyquil for breakfast. Menopause confirmed which is making me struggle to know what is what. Fun times!
Gluten
Your antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low stomach acid and then low vitamin levels
Low vitamin levels affect Thyroid hormone working
Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten. Dairy is second most common.
According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's test positive for coeliac, but a further 80% find strictly gluten free diet helps or is essential due to gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)
Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies
While still eating high gluten diet ask GP for coeliac blood test first or buy test online for under £20, just to rule it out first
Assuming test is negative you can immediately go on strictly gluten free diet
(If test is positive you will need to remain on high gluten diet until endoscopy, maximum 6 weeks wait officially)
Trying gluten free diet for 3-6 months. If no noticeable improvement then reintroduce gluten and see if symptoms get worse

Non Coeliac Gluten sensitivity (NCGS) and autoimmune disease
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/296...
The predominance of Hashimoto thyroiditis represents an interesting finding, since it has been indirectly confirmed by an Italian study, showing that autoimmune thyroid disease is a risk factor for the evolution towards NCGS in a group of patients with minimal duodenal inflammation. On these bases, an autoimmune stigma in NCGS is strongly supported

In summary, whereas it is not yet clear whether a gluten free diet can prevent autoimmune diseases, it is worth mentioning that HT patients with or without CD benefit from a diet low in gluten as far as the progression and the potential disease complications are concerned

Despite the fact that 5-10% of patients have Celiac disease, in my experience and in the experience of many other physicians, at least 80% + of patients with Hashimoto's who go gluten-free notice a reduction in their symptoms almost immediately.
my thyroid antibodies are now normal when ten years ago they were through the roof. I researched it and now take Vit D3 supplements, 4 Brazil nuts daily (for selenium), black seed oil and aloe Vera tablets daily - it’s done the trick.
