Almus is a Boots own brand and it is made by Accord.

Accord also make Northstar 50mcg and 100mcg Levo for Lloyds Pharmacy (Northstar 25mcg is made by Teva).

If you still have a box of Almus or patient information leaflet from the Almus, you will see that on the box it mentions it's made by Accord, the foil back of the Almus tablet blister pack wil say Accord, and the patient information leaflet will say Accord.

So they are the same tablet whether they are Accord, Almus or Northstar 50mcg and 100mcg tablets.

Accord used to be Actavis and the name changed a few years ago, for all intents and purposes they should have been the same tablets as they were made in the same factory it was just the change of name. However, saying that, there are a minority of members who have said the same as you when they were changed from Actavis to Accord but I've had the brand for donkeys years and didn't find any difference.

There shouldn't be any difference but if you have found there is then possibly there is.

You could contact Accord to discuss, you could put in a yellow card report:

yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

or you could just go back to using Boots for the Almus brand.

Thanku so much for reply:) I think i will pop to see the pharmacist as i had a prescription a couple of months ago and was ill then so i want to see if was the same brand then too. Ive had the Boots ones for years and never been ill .. its only since Ive changed pharmacies and keep getting different brands. It may be coincidence and i am indeed just ill but im on day 9 of the Accord ones and have felt awful for last 7 days.

I had a horrible time on Accord. It seemed to accelerate my gut so much that it gave me a bit of a bang straight after taking it and then wore off really quickly. Literally as soon as it hit my tummy I had to run to the loo. I had horrible fasciculations (muscle tremors) - I still do but they were at their worst on Accord. I was exhausted, felt sick, very dizzy every time I stood (and sometimes just moving my head even when I was laying down on days when I couldn't move), always worn out after a couple of hours of waking. I was at the time on 50mcg and trying to clamber up the dosage levels, but for me the change with switching to Mercury (quite by accident) even at the same dose was significant, it seems to work more steadily for me. It hasn't by any means fixed the problems but they are way less (and after all I am still trying to cope with clambering up the doses). But anyway, it's not just you, I really couldn't handle it.

Been given accord 50mcg from pharmacy instead of Mercury Pharma. Have had really painful stomach cramps. I think every time they change brands, you are supposed to have a blood test. Going to check with pharmacy and put in a yellow card. These were really severe pains. Glad I was at home.

You know I’ve just come on here to ask the very same thing. I’ve never had a problem with any brand before (and they change almost two monthly) I’ve also had accord before but I take 100mcg and the tablet size this time is minuscule. But this is day 3 of taking them and I am having the worst stomach cramps and insomnia! I take mine before bed so I’m guessing that’s why I’m not sleeping. I’m going to see if I have any other brand hanging around in the cupboard and see if I use that whether things are better. Then I’ll complete a yellow card and tell pharmacy no more! 😩

Could I ask if you settled on another brand as I am also experiencing troublesome problems on Accord since brand change. I am reducing down too which is complicating the situation.

Sorry, I know this is a post from a while ago
