Is there such a thing as a reading list of the relevant academic papers which highlight our differing points of view from the current ‘leading lights’ in hypothyroidism in the UK? Or do I just have to collect them as I see them on the forum? Off course something like this would need constant updating if it existed - no mean feat I am sure but does it exist in the first place? The reason I am asking is I am just beginning to see that no matter where I turn, the information in these research papers is critically important. Even if I want to live in peace and understanding and not take anyone to task; which I think about probably more than is healthy.

thyroiduk.org/further-readi... you are looking for is on the Thyroid UK website under the section further reading.
My Vade Mecum document has Appendix A which is full of links to more information from, I hope, reliable sources.
Academic papers can be found via PubMed and Europe PMC.
Thyroid Patients Canada is excellent because it summarises, extracts, presents information from academic papers - and makes very sure it is all fully referenced.
If you sign up to PubMed, you can get a daily update of new papers. Yesterday I received a list of 22 new papers related to thyroid. (Some might refer to the thyroid cartilage or say they are NOT referring to thyroid.) This sort of number of papers is common - the numbers do vary.

I am overwhelmed by the sheer quantity. Even getting copies to read (if they are not directly linked and open access) can take a lot of work and is all too often impossible.
helvella - Vade Mecum for Thyroid
The term vade mecum means:
1. A referential book such as a handbook or manual.
2. A useful object, constantly carried on one’s person.
Please don't get put off by the number of pages!
Nor by the fact it is targeted at people interested in thyroid issues. Much of its contents could be of use to many involved in health issues. Things like abbreviations, lists, general reference information.
In particular, it is not intended that you sit and read the document. Just that you download it and know you can look things up.
If there is anything you'd like me to add, let me know.
Not everything is in this one document - my major medicines document is still separate!
