Hi, as a priority vaccine recipient due to age and congenital hypothyroidism -I have had 2 Astra vaccines, a pfizer booster, and a Moderna half dose booster,. I had close contact with someone on the way home from the booster, and got my first dose of Covid from them. (June 9th) It was only a mild dose but it has left me with an infected thyroid. I'm on penicillin but the soreness is a lot worse than a normal cold throat. It's amazing what a tiny little gland can do!
It seems that it can also give you hyper symptoms like very fast heart beat, and dizziness. I had to call 111 for help, as I live alone and didn't know what was happening. A relief GP said 'oh, you're just overdosed on thyroxine, reduce it a bit'.
Been down that road before with bad results. Now I'm just resting and drinking a lot of water, not coffee, and the hyper symptoms are nearly back to normal, heart and BP are normal. And I'm not scared of dying at home of a heart attack from overdosing, as another GP predicted.
Just trying to say, if you still have a really bad throat after Covid, in a reasonable time, get it looked at in case its the thyroid not just a covid hangover. The thyroid untreated may not be able to do work properly for a few months.
The age thing, I'm 81 years old and was diagnosed at 18 months old with hypothyroidism.
I take 2 x 100mcg tablets with no bother. have done for years.
Anyone asking can they split a 75mcg tablet, They are not meant to be split.
A very tired old lady is now going for a nap,
