Hi, not sure if anyone else has experienced issues in getting hold of their GP, I finally managed to get updated bloods done as I still am no better and I haven’t received my prescription for several months now.

Here are my updated results, seem to be tested for a lot of different things

Pixelchic, what was your prescription for? Blood tests for TSH and T4 only are inadequate. You should also have T3 tested. Have you had any vitamins tested? B12, D, folate and Iron?

Hi there,

I think that is an understatement - gone are the days (1970's) when a Surrey GP (not a little rural practice) knocked on the door because he saw the lights on at about 11.00 p.m. coming back from dinner with his wife - just to check in on how my Mum was doing ! Anyway back to reality.

I am pleasantly surprised to see how these blood tests are worded - they seem like private bloods. The mention of Biotin and other remarks are really good to see. Your results look OK but I will leave it up to the more knowledgeable ladies to go into that - TSH a little raised but that could have been affected by something else that day. To an endocrinologist's eye - the magic words - your thyroid is fine - spring to mind - and I cannot believe I have even written those 'evil' words that we have all heard when we are still feeling ill. The members on here are so helpful so don't despair you will get there......

Previous post from year ago

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Shows you were deficient in B12, folate and ferritin

These are highly likely deficient BECAUSE of stopping your levothyroxine

Being hypothyroid frequently causes low stomach acid, this leads to poor nutrient absorption and low vitamin levels as direct result

GP should have tested for Pernicious Anaemia before starting B12 injections

Plus full iron panel test for anaemia

Plus Prescription for folic acid

Did this happen

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Request GP retest folate, ferritin and B12, plus vitamin D

A year ago you stopped Levo and then re-started. So how much are you now taking ?

Have your low levels of Ferritin - B12 - Folate improved ?

I have read through your previous posts so unless you have improved levels I am sorry to say you will continue to feel tired. Your TSH is far too high if you are still on Levo.

Hi I am still on 50mcg of levothyroxine I did have other blood tests done which I’ll try to add on here. All the tests were done by the nhs.

So you need 25mcg dose increase in levothyroxine immediately

Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking

The aim of levothyroxine is to increase the dose slowly upwards in 25mcg steps. Retest thyroid levels 6-8 weeks after each dose increase

Always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Likely to need several further increases in levothyroxine over coming months

Aiming for TSH around one. Most important results are always FT3 followed by Ft4

Looking for Ft3 at least 50-60% through range minimum

All four vitamins need testing and maintaining at OPTIMAL levels

That’s

Vitamin D at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

Serum B12 at least over 500

Active B12 at least over 70

Folate and ferritin at least half way through range

Guidelines on dose levothyroxine eventually likely to need is around 1.6mcg per kilo of your weight

Nothing relevant in this

You need folate, B12, ferritin and vitamin D test results

There is nothing concerning in the above results that my non medically trained eyes can see ! Still no results for B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD. Optimal levels help with thyroid hormone metabolism and the feeling of wellness.

50 mcg is a starter dose !

Your TSH is too high - above range, so I would expect you need more thyroxine - but there are plenty of experts on here who know more than me.

It is nigh on impossible to see a doctor from what I can tell. I've just been in hospital for a week having a hip operation. I had a few complications and barely saw a doctor there either!

"and I haven’t received my prescription for several months now."

Does this mean you have been without Levo for a period of time ?

.... Just checking you are aware that if your latest test was not done after 6 weeks on consistent ,stable dose , then the results will be inaccurate .
