Do e.n.t. or endocrinologists usually monitor thyroid nodules when abnormal?

Is the above normal in the uk?Advice to g.p. re. abnormal thyroid nodule is refer to e.n.t. as my problems not hormone related, and due to a non thyroidal illness!

Yes thats usually the case. ENT will look at physical issues - usually with a view point of “does this need surgery?” and they don’t do blood test. They assume GP or other departments deal with that.

Endocrinology would look at blood test result and hormone levels.

Yes that sounds right. I had visible thyroid nodules. My GP did blood tests and declared my thyroid function to be normal. I requested a referral for an ultrasound, which sent me through to the ENT department who took over from there.

I originally started out in the ENT office for thyroid nodules but was later told by Endo that I should have never been sent to the ENT for my nodules I eventually was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
