What is the cause of swelling in ankles and hands? Hashimoto’s flare? Under medicated? Overmedicated? What is the best way to address it?

A Hashi's flare is when the immune system attacks the thyroid, and the dying cells release their stock of hormone into the blood. The FT4 and FT3 rise sharply, which causes the TSH to drop, and you go temporarily hyper.

Swelling ankles, etc. tends to be hypo symptoms, so doubtful that a Hashi's flare would cause it. Far more likely to be under-medication. So, the best way to address it is to get a blood test and an increase in dose. I've never found anything else you can do, I'm afraid.
