This paper compares patients with low, normal and higher TSH as to outcomes. It shows higher TSH but not low TSH has adverse implications.

Behind a paywall but a little more information here medpagetoday.com/endocrinol... . This is stating the obvious but I guess it helps to have formal proof.

Many of us were hypothyroid with a 'normal' TSH, so it's important to remember these studies only look at those diagnosed with primary hypothyroidism on the basis of an elevated TSH and low fT4. Lots of patients are omitted from these studies.

Good points! In addition, the medical profession doesn’t consider those of us with no thyroid gland, suppressed tsh, high FT4 and low or below range FT3, who are under medicated (or incorrectly medicated) and at the same risk.
