HRT or not!

Hi looking for advice please on wether oestradiol pessaries/gel good idea for post menopause symptoms I've been experiencing. GP has suggested but I mentioned to her had heard interacts with thyroid medication. She denied this. Also concerned, as had fibroids pre & during menopause, which although now shrunk are still there. Oestrogen can make them grow? Tried HRT few years back, tablet form and had to stop taking, as made me balloon caused bad fluid retention. I struggle with keeping weight down anyway due to being hypo. Only exercise & intermittent fasting keeps my weight down so dont want to risk taking hormones if they will interfere with thyroid. Any advice, similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Oestrogen vaginal pessaries won’t effect thyroid meds because the dose is so tiny (compared to say transdermal oestrogel) and doesn’t travel through the liver.

However, it won’t tackle systemic symptoms, only localised such as those seen in vaginal atrophy.

Re fibroids, it was never investigated but I suspect I had these pre Hashi diagnosis (pelvic pain & extremely heavy bleeding during periods ) which appear to have gone since being optimally thyroid hormone medicated.

I can't comment re the risk of them reoccurring with oestrogen vaginal pessaries as haven't used this form of HRT. Have you discussed the risks with your GP? If your GP has offered it to you the risks must be very small.

Thanks for reply and advice. Yes, still considering wether to go down HRT route or not. More meds to take! Was same female GP who prescribed prozac for me few years back when it was prob thyroid/menopause related. I didn't take the prozac!!
