does levothyroxine cause seizures?

I just got back on my medication after being tested a few months ago and my thyroid was normal then but it's back off. I started the same dose I had before of 75 mcg of levothyroxine. Yesterday while falling asleep my brain felt like it was vibrating violently causing me to wake up but not able to open my eyes or move until my body jerked. Am I having seizures? Can too high of a dose cause this? I've never had a seizure before so I don't know what to look for. It's also making it hard for me to stay awake, I work at night and sleep during the day but on my way to work, I've almost fallen asleep while driving and I'm honestly scared to drive to work now.

Levo (T4) shouldn't cause seizures as it is a replacement for a dysfunctional thyroid gland. It is prescribed worldwide and many hypo patients have no problems at all with levothyroxine.

T4 is supposed to convert to T3 and it is T3 that is the 'active hormone' needed in our millions of T3 receptor cells and brain and heart contain the most. It then sends out 'waves' during the next 24 hours.

As you stopped taking levo I think - and am not medically qualified - you should restart your dose from the beginning.

If we stop taking thyroid hormones we have to start at the beginning again with gradual increases until we feel well and symptom-free.

If you've not had B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate tested request these.

The blood draw should always be at the very earliest but don't take thyroid hormones until afterwards. We take thyroid hormones with one glass of water and wait an hour before we eat. Food can interfere with T4's uptake.

Levothyroxine is simply a replacement hormone, prescribed for millions of people, and not normally associated with episodes such as you describe. As this experience is greatly affecting your life, and your ability to sleep, meaning that both your health and safety are being compromised, you should speak to your GP as soon as possible. Abnormal brain activity, indicating seizures, can be identified using an EEG. I hope you find some help with this situation soon.
