I've lost count of the number of times I and others have answered questions about levothyroxine brands in the UK.

While my medicines document is quite reasonable, I hope, in making clear what is what, historic makes have often confused.

I have collected together some information going right back to the first UK levothyroxine - Glaxo's L-thyroxine through to now.

Inevitably, it will have mistakes and is incomplete. If you can fill any gaps, I'd be interested to know.

"you can have any dose you want, as long as it's 100mcg" ..what's that all about ?

might as well say "i'm going to make shoes , but only in size 6"

do you have to build a new factory every time you want to make a new size of tablet ?

The writer of such documents is so close, they cannot see anything after a while!

Aristo do make several other dosages - and market them in Germany. I see the release of the 100 microgram tablet as testing the water. I did ask at one point and got the impression they intended to add others. But they could well have changed their minds.

I have updated this significantly.

I am struggling to get accurate information - particularly from about 1960 to 2010. I know that covers fifty years and goodness knows how many possible changes.

If you took a copy before today, I suggest you download it again.
