Hi susiebow , i'll have to let others who've had experience of starting T3 advise you about the T3 bit ,..

but my gut feeling is that it given how sensitive you are to thyroid hormones giving you feelings of 'overmedication', you might have been better to start at 5mcg T3 for a week or so ,to allow yourself to get used to it gradually .. but i do understand why you want to do as your endo advised.

Sending you a hug xx

Please post and ask whenever you need to , 'cos i'm sure staring T3 again is a bit of a rollercoaster , but hopefully it will settle down.

personally i wouldn't increase the levo for those 2 days to 75mcg while you feel like this , i'd keep it at 62.5mcg every day .

The Endo won't mind you making a very minor adjustment like that.

Yes ,I should of maybe reduced thyroxine before starting t3.I have an Endocrinologist specialist nurse contact number ,I think I will phone her and say not going up to 75 tyrosine for 2 days ,just staying at 62.5 and 10. T3.Plus side, pain less just 3 days in.

Sounds like a good plan . Best plan is to try and keep relaxed about what's happening to you this week , and accept its going to feel a bit uncomfortable while you get used to it ... you know your T4 levels will be slowly dropping over the next week as the T4 in your blood from the 100mcg dose gradually gets used up/got rid of.... so hopefully that 'hyper feeling' will get less as the week goes on .

Hang in there X

Susiebow. I would have advised you to reduce your levo first and wait a week or 2 to get some T4 out of your system before adding in 5mcg T3 then after a week or two another 5mcg T3.

If you just started day 1 on your endo's doses then you will have your higher level of levo plus your 10mcg T3 swimming about as it were in your body. It will take several more days for your levo reduction to take effect plus your body is also adjusting to the T3 so you have a double whammy going on.

If this were me I'd consider either

reducing to 5mcg T3 and let that settle for a week or two. Then introducing a second dose of 5mcg later in the day.

or

sitting it out at 62.5 and 10 know that I need to just wait for my body to adjust.

Big hugs as you are having a rough time of it x

Did you start on 10mcg T3 as a single dose?

That’s too much too soon

Hasn’t endocrinologist recommended you split T3 into 2 x 5mcg doses ….

The advice on here when adding T3 is to do it SLOWLY

if reducing levothyroxine, start reducing levothyroxine 3-4 days before adding first dose of T3

First day adding T3 - either add just 5mcg waking …..or add 2.5mcg waking …….and 2.5mcg mid-late afternoon

After week or so……..add 2nd 5mcg T3 so that taking 5mcg waking and 5mcg late afternoon

Retest 6-8 weeks after any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine or T3

Day before test move last 5mcg dose T3 a bit later than normal…..so that last dose is approx 8-12 hours before blood test

Can I refer you to the replies in your previous post! Might help allay concerns.I don't understand why your endo is making that dose change to 75mcg levo...too fast!

Endo sounds as if he's making change just to be seen to be doing something...or he is out of his depth!!

It's your body, if your gut feeling is that it's wrong then that is possibly right....he is there to advise not to dictate!

Given how you feel I'd stick with 62.5mcg levo + 10mcg T3 ( split to 2×5mcg doses) or if it eases your concerns just take 5mcg for a couple of weeks before thinking about increasing to 10mcg T3.

Your body obviously needs more time to adjust and that's fine...we are all different.

Improvement is not instantaneous so you will feel miserable until things settle. Been there, T3 can be quite a challenge but now high dose T3-only and OK.

Looking at your previous posts you've had a miserable journey over several years and levo clearly hasn't helped

Might it be time to take control and to consider reducing levo further and increasing T3?

Thanks for that Dippy Dame, yes I did think the 75 2 days a week with 10 t3 a bit strange.I am going to stick with 62.5 thyroxine and t3 10.I actually stopped t3 3 days in ,as was feeling hot and hyper, just taking 62.5 thyroxine for few days to let reduced dose have a chance to reduce before adding 10 t3 again.
