Error about report on thyroid results

Hi all again, the report on my monitor my health results actually said that I may have a mild form of hypothyroidism known as subclinical hypothyroidism and it didn't appear to require treatment at present but to monitor it every 3-6 months. We'll, as I have Hashimotos, I really don't understand that comment at all.

Did you provide any background information for MMH in the way of your thyroid diagnosis and what thyroid meds you take? If not then they will have responded based on the results only.

I've only ever done the basic thyroid test with MMH and there is no opportunity to give any information hence every report I have from them has a standard comment

"This interpretation is based on the assumption you do not have a pre-existing thyroid condition and/or receiving thyroid treatment".

I always have a suppressed TSH with FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their ranges, so without any knowledge of my circumstances they are giving an appropriate generic response.

I didn't realise you could give MMH any background information but it doesn't really matter, the comment about TSH, being the most important parameter in monitoring treatment with replacement hormone, proves, yet again that they (the medical profession) don't know what they're talking about anyway .

I didn't say you can give them details, I was asking if you gave any because your other post said you did cholesterol, Vit D and HbA1c test as well as thyroid, I have no knowledge of that more comprehensive test. As I said I've only ever done the basic thyroid test and you don't give any background information with that one.

As MMH is an NHS lab it's a given that they're going to say TSH is the most important test.

It's a ridiculous situation when those who've done over 6 years medical training are less knowledgeable than the patients, they are treating, we are all going to really struggle to get adequate treatment as most GPs and endos,believe they know everything and we the patients know nothing. It makes me so angry and frustrated.

This is not actually what the comment suggests. As Seaside Susie says, the comment given by MMH is a generic one, and stated as being for those with no current diagnosis of any thyroid condition and on no treatment for any such condition. Nothing to do with being an NHS lab facility, or are you questioning the actual results, too?

T4 31.5pmol/L (12 - 22)

T3 4.2 (3.1 - 6.8)

As you didn’t give them any info that you are Hashimoto’s, hypothyroid and on levothyroxine……..Astonished they didn’t say you were hyperthyroid

Hi Sobs your FT4 is rather high.......Are you planning to reduce a little.

I'm an idiot and took my dose of Levothyroxine that morning and forgot and did the test. So hopefully it will reduce as next time will make sure I don't take my levo and am about to start combined HRT patches and I've read they reduce your t4 and t3 but need bloods done every 6 weeks to monitor my thyroid levels.
