Update Oral levothyroxine

I have just received a phone from zentiva manufacturers reference to whether oral levo can be mix with water, they are unable to comment on this.

Information given was to ask a doctor,

Considering doctors notoriously tell patients to ask pharmacists, I fear you have entered a whirlpool of nonsense!

You ask GP, who tells you to ask pharmacist. Pharmacist tells you to ask producer...

But, lack of "no - don't" seems at least to imply they have no information saying "never do this - it is dangerous".

I had spoke to 2 pharmacist yesterday how gave me the same answer " speak to your gp". It took me 1 month to get a phone call from the gp who prescribed me the levo.Tomorrow the levo I am mixing with water. (tablets are swallowed with water.) I just have to found out for myself and if I feel OK get my own blood test done in the new year.

pharmacists obviously didn't know the response you needed. Proably don't know either, they just prescribe the medications stated on the prescriptions.

When I was prescribed liquid Levo (to see if it caused the same itching as tablet form) the hospital pharmacist called me and told me that I didn’t need liquid levo because I could dissolve the tablets in water! When I told her that I couldn’t take the tablets because I was allergic to them she told me that they couldn’t get the liquid form anyway.

I've been wondering something similar myself. I've done quite a bit of Googling and from what I've found, it appears that taking liquid levo with food and drink has very little impact on its absorption.

(I still take mine before breakfast just to be safe though!).
