Hi there,

Does anyone know of any specialists in postpartum thyroiditis (either NHS or private)?

I had severe postpartum thyroiditis 4 years ago after the birth of my son. My TSH was normal in the 6 week check in the September but I was hospitalised in the January with TSH of 182.

After 4 years, I'm finally feeling good. I'm on 50mcg of Levo a day and levels are optimal. My husband and I would really like another child, but, obviously, I'm terrified of going through this whole health nightmare again.

I'd really like to speak to a specialist in postpartum hypothyroidism to get some facts about what I can expect to help me make this huge decision. We don't mind paying privately.

Any help would be fab! Thanks!

If anyone has any recommendations please reply by private message as we can't discuss individual doctors on the forum. I will turn off replies so that no information is posted here.

Twan12 You can send for the list of thyroid friendly endos, private and NHS, from ThyroidUK, that would give you a starting point and you could maybe contact their secretaries to see if they specialise in postpartum.
