Who else has had Covid?

My family and I all got Covid, quarantine ends tomorrow. It felt very much like a hypo episode with some extras thrown in. Day 1, I felt lethargic, normal tasks felt like an effort. Day 2, my torso felt sweaty and sensitive, prickly. Day 3, dry cough and more lethargy. Day 4, my head feels stuffy, like a head cold, I also feel travel sick, my tummy feels like it’s both empty but also full at the same time. Day 5, my eyeballs hurt. Day 6, I wake up feeling better and so do some chores, then become exhausted and have a nap. Day 7, wake up feeling better still bit again, as the day wears on I feel tired and detached and the travel tummy appears again. Day 8, still some lethargy and woozy tummy. Eyeballs don’t hurt any more. Mild dry cough has changed to a Mucus producing cough. Tight chest at times. Still some derealisation left and occasional but brief spikes in temp.

I had stopped taking analgesics on day 6.

It was pretty horrid if I’m honest and I wonder how long some symptoms will linger. But overall it wasn’t bad.

It’s all good 🤗 I guess I was curious to anyone else’s experience. I’m all better, completely back to normal again. My hubby is still having lingering symptoms, he feels low, almost despair some days, brain fog and a rough cough that can keep him up or wake him at night. Poor guy. It would be interesting to know if my thyriod meds gave me an advantage.

I just got over Covid too. Fully vaccinated in January with moderna!

It was awful! Like the flu x 10! I was downnnn for the count for almost 3 weeks. Still don’t feel brilliant.

Fever for 2-3 days. Body aches so bad I used a heating pad. Sweated profusely (first time I’ve been warm since my thyroidectomy lol), fatigue like a MF! Vertigo was awful for 2 weeks. Couldn’t walk to the kitchen without getting dizzy.

I ended up infecting my husband who’s fully vaccinated with Pfizer.

I’ve never had flu, so can’t compare. I was ill for about 2wks, back to work, feeling lethargic but happy to be up and about again. I was ‘well’ for about 8 days then my daughter brought another serious virus back from Reading festival and I went down quick again. As it wasn’t Covid, I struggled on. My FIL also died (cancer) and so stress levels are high. GP was also refusing blood tests because of the vial shortage. Eventually I got a private test which showed my FT3 had dropped to only 50% through range. B12 and folate low.

So I’m just trying to get back to full fitness, getting there slowly. Nothing like before I introduced T3 but still, I know I’m not at 100% yet.

The children recovered really quickly. The adult child and hubby who are vaccinated had difficult respiratory issues, coughing up lungs ect. I have chosen not to vaccinate and I faired better, although that fits with my history, like I said I’ve never had flu. The only serious problems I’ve had in my nearly 50yrs is vestibular, thyroid and about 10yrs ago the children gave me whooping cough (which was horrendous and lasted 6mths).

Hope you get back to full strength soon 🤗

First off, I’m sorry to hear about your FIL!

What was the secondary infection?

I’ve heard of children recovering fairly quickly from Covid. So that’s good to hear!

I’m glad to hear you’re fairing okay!

Thank you 🤗 He died on 17th October and not having a funeral till the 18th October 😱 just tooo long 😞

I don’t know what the second virus was. Just a virus, but not Covid, like nasal, ENT, my nose was so dry, it hurt to breath, like someone had sucked out all the fluid, then it became so blocked, I couldn’t breath through it, but neither could I blow it to relieve pressure. Again it was like walking through treacle in order to do daily tasks.

80% of lethargy, constipation ect has gone now that I’ve increased T3.

My son got a throat infection within a few days of having Covid. We weren’t able to see our GP, instead they asked for pictures of the back of his throat, which were almost impossible to show the white blisters. As GP’s don’t give out antibiotics when they assume infections are viral, she was reluctant to give us anything but then said, I’ll write a prescription , just incase (after lecturing me on the difference between viral and bacterial infection). After 4days of a painful throat, we got the prescription and within 2 tablets taken the throat was nearly clear. He finished the course. So I do believe that this was a bacterial infection in relation to Covid.

I’m assuming you mean he passed on September 17. Either way, my condolences.

Pcp advised me to be on alert for rebound bacterial sinus infections after Covid as this seems to be a common occurrence.I’m assuming augmentin?

Today is the first day in >3 weeks I feel semi not Covid-y lol. Woo it was rough.

PCP?

I’m so glad that you are finally on the mend. Stress is definitely a factor for me re catching infections, remaining low and then my thyroid output being lowered. Makes total sense to me. Adrenaline to keep going whenever shit hits the fan and in this instance lockdown fatigue is playing a huge part, exacerbating everyday stress.

PCP = Primary Care Physician

helvella - Vade Mecum for Thyroid

The term vade mecum means:

1. A referential book such as a handbook or manual.

2. A useful object, constantly carried on one’s person.

My earlier abbreviations and acronyms document worked quite well. The problem I saw was that I had created numerous other documents. And members simply did not know they existed.

By combining several documents, I have produced a considerable collection of information in a single document. Hence the name. To a large extent, it is a book of lists.

I had to make lots of design decisions and one of them was to reduce the margins to almost nothing. This means that it is not ideally formatted for printing. I hope (and expect) most members will actually use it on a phone, tablet or computer.

Not everything is in this one document - my major medicines document is still separate!

To begin with, the old documents will still be available but I shall edit each one to indicate that they are no longer being updated.
