Fluconazole

Hi all, I have well managed Hashis and I'm on 50mcg Levo. I have recurrent thrush so I've just been offered by gyno a 6 month suppression therapy with fluconazole. I wonder if any of you has had any experience with this medication?

I'm very afraid it will disrupt this fine balance I've found with my thyroid, but the thrush is negatively affecting my mind and body so I'm trying to understand whether it'd be worth it to go ahead with this therapy now.

Thanks for your help!

First of all, poor you. Thrush is miserable. :( I take it your doctor’s tested for diabetes (that’s the most common cause of recurrent thrush)?

There are no reported interactions between levothyroxine and fluconazole so in theory at least you should be fine.

And I’ll say it, cos if I don’t someone else will :) - 50mcg levothyroxine is a very low dosage of thyroid medication. It’s feasible that undertreated hypothyroidism is causing your thrush—just something to keep in mind.

Hope the fluconazole does the trick. x
