I’m not mad, I’m not hysterical, I’m not a hypochondriac! I decided that I’m not willing to accept my ‘couldn’t care less’ GP’s attitude and contacted a private endocrinologist. I sent her my test results and a list of some of my symptoms and her reply was unequivocal; I have Hashimoto’s. She’s booked up until mid-October, but has Hashimoto’s herself so I think she’s likely to be sympathetic and helpful. I’m booking an appointment.

Things might be looking up 👍. Shame it's such a long wait though.
Well done Horsey07!
You've took control and are not letting the gp's dismissive attitude get you down.
Best wishes🙂
Glad you are getting somewhere.
But....isn't it shocking that we thyroid patients are forced to go down this route and to buy our own medication when we have a free health service that was said to be available to the country from the cradle to the grave! Is there another disease that is so badly neglected...I doubt it!
Sadly the medics involved seem to have skipped thyroid lectures.
It’s really awful that I’ve had to do this. I’m incredibly lucky to be able to afford it. How people who have to wait for the NHS to start listening cope is completely beyond me.
It really did get me down to start with; I left the surgery in tears. Once I got my blood test results from Blue Horizon I knew there was actually something wrong, that gave me the confidence to contact Georgina.
Good work! Go for it!
Why is this the same story for so many people ? Beyond belief that a whole group of patients are continually treated like this. They nearly had me believing that I WAS a hypochondriac, until I ended up in Resus with Brachycardia. Got myself sorted now, best wishes for your recovery.
