I have a query please... It had been more than 24 hours since my daughter had her levo before blood test was done. Infact I would say it had been almost 30 hours. Would this affect her t4 levels? could it perhaps have given a false low t4.

In the body T4 declines with a half-life of about 7 days(meaning that if you suddenly stopped taking T4, half of it would have been used up over a week), 30 hours is 1 day and a quarter, so roughly the loss would be the fraction 1 and a quarter days/1 week of 7 days or about 17%. This is significant but would not be too important. Especially with anyone with working thyroid remnant left, which tries to compensate by turning out more T3 than normal to help any deficit.
Thank you for your reply diogenes. The reason i was querying this was due to her latest results. Her tsh was 3.4 and her t4 was 11. In Sep 2020 when she had her results back her tsh was 3.1 and t4 was 13.8. I was very surprised as to how low her t4 was compared to her tsh. and also in comparison to sep 2020 test results.
I then began thinking what have i done different this time I had left 30 hours before test and since she had taken.
I have spoken to endo today too and he has said that perhaps last time her body was producing some t4 but now its not.
Its just a thought I had, but now her levo has been increased by a further 25 mcg today so hopefully things will get better for her in a few weeks and she will also feel better.
Further more I would also like to add that finally endo has agreed to test for celiac and after persuading him he has agreed to test vit D, ferritin, folate and B12. He also asked where I was getting these ideas from and suggested I should do less research!!!!!
Why not? Suggest he tries it, rather than being years out of date. That is, he learnt it at Med School when the dinosaurs had just died.
If there wasn't any internet...you'd be reading every book you could find......my daughter was diagnosed type 1 diabetic aged 10 - 24 yrs ago, so I understand how you are feeling.
Celiac - I was diagnosed with Hashi's in 2007, and was automatically tested for celiac then as it was in the guidelines (don't think it is any more). I tested negative in 2007, but positive last year.
I don't know if I would impose a gluten free diet on an 11yr old, unless I had to.........it's a very tough decision.
I hope that the tests all come back good.
