It's a bit confusing.

Your thread title says "Hypothyroid" and you say you're feeling "a bit hypER".

Your FT4 is in a very good place but when did you take your last dose of Levo before the test?

Your TSH is over range and very high for the FT4 result. I'm not sure how your GP can say a TSH over range in a treated Hypo patient is normal.

Your results are saying FT4 is nicely normal but TSH is showing undermedicated.

Yes I am hypothyroid after rai treatment about 12 years ago. My Dr's have been treating me with 100mg levothyroxine 3 days and 125 mg 4 days per week. I am very quick talking at the minute so thought I was a bit over medicated. I feel tired. Lump feeling in throat and swollen glands. Got blood test today for calcium and vitamin d incase I have parathyroid issues. I have not felt well for years and just go with what Dr says. I have got them to print of my results from 2012 and I have only been tested 8 times. I am 50 next month and blood test showed menopausal. Only on levothyroxine no other medication. Any advice welcome

Levothyroxine taken 24 hrs before test and no food or drink on morning. Test done around 9.45

I'm wondering if something has gone awry with the TSH test then. With such a high TSH one would expect to see a low in range FT4 and yours is 65% through range. Definitely not overmedicated by any stretch of the imagination. To be overmedicated you'd have FT4 over range and TSH probably below range, but testing FT3 would tell you whether or not you are overmedicated but they rarely do that.

Do you take a B Complex or Biotin supplement? This can give false results if not left off for a few days before the test.

I have been following this group for a while and was taking a range of vitimin C d zinc and selenium. Had been on magnesium for a few weeks and mercury pharma levothyroxine. Got new prescription on 15th Feb for thyroxine and after 3 days started feeling bad so stopped vitamins. Just stayed on levothyroxine. But I am due another prescription tomorrow. Mine come in a brown bottle and they say its mercury pharma but I don't know. Last time I felt like this I was given teva. High heart rate tinitus tired emotionally serum free t4 level then was 17.1 pmol/l and serum tsh level was 1.71 mu/l. Dr gave me 1 month of folic acid 5 mg and 1 month of vitamin d and said thyroxine pills were alright... I think I will wait till I get blood results of today's calcium and vitamin d although the nurse said he probably won't do the vitamin d test but she would put it in anyway. Can't understand that bit myself. Then I will get private thyroid test done. The only good thing is the lady doctor says she will start an investigation for lumps in neck and swollen glands. So maybe they will order proper test. Probably time to change to a different doctor lol. Sorry for such a long post

Any idea why they come in a brown bottle rather than a box with blister pack?

If in a bottle you should always be given a Patient Information leaflet appertaining to the actual brand of tablet given. If you are not given this then it would be within your rights to insist upon one. You need to know which brand you are given because if you have an adverse reaction you will need to avoid that brand in future.

We should know which brand we are using and not chop and change, if brand is changed then we need to retest 6-8 weeks later.

Could you use a different pharmacy, one that dispenses boxed levothyroxine?

Chemist said they did not always have blister pack in mercury pharma but our chemist make up packs of daily pills for old people and ones who can't remember which pills to take and they buy it in large amount and said it is mercury pharma brand so have been giving me them because I wanted only wanted mercury pharma. I will only accept proper box tomorrow when I pick up script. They give me 2 months of 100 mg and 2 months of 25 mg. Do you think I should take 125 mg every day and see how I get on or ask doctor first. On 18/11/2019 my results were t4 24.6 high and tsh 0.21 low and lady doctor dropped me to 100mg. I should have been checking all these result for years

I think all pharmacies make up dosette boxes for patients that need them, mine certainly does but the rest of us get our medication in normal boxes. Accord seems to be the standard Levo brand at my pharmacy for all hypo patients.

Presumably the FT4 was over range? Or was she adjusting dose based on TSH being below range?

Do you think I should take 125 mg every day and see how I get on or ask doctor first.

I can't answer that. Maybe you should discuss your results with your doctor, point out that it's very unusual to have such a high TSH with FT4 at that point within it's range. Also ask why they have said your results are normal when your TSH is so far over range, "normal" means within range, over range is abnormal.

I think maybe repeat the test before doing anything, there is clearly something wrong with one of those results. With a high TSH then FT4 should be low in range, with an FT4 65% through range then TSH would be towards the lower end of it's range.

I know this makes me come across as very silly but I have always just listened to doctors. They never give reasons for anything. I just stopped going for blood tests cause there was no point. They never did anything to make you feel better. I will phone in morning and see if I can get a phone call with doctor and ask about the results. Thank you for your help. X
