As the lab range is 50-74nmol/L for borderline then yes, he is correct.
Thee are categories for Vit D and each category has it's own range-
Deficiency (usually less than 25 or less than 30nmol/)
Insufficient
Sufficient (or adequate, which is usually 75+ )
So you are just below your lab's level for sufficiency, therefore they have classed this as borderline.
The Vit D Society and Grassroots Health recommend a level of 100-150nmol/L. You might want to consider improving your level, especially considering that a good level of Vit D is said to help the immune system and where Covid 19 is concerned. If you do then you'd be looking at supplementing with 2,500-3,000iu D3 daily along with it's important cofactors magnesium and Vit K2-MK7. Retest after 3 months to check your levels and once the recommended level has been reached then adjust your dose to maintain it there, retesting twice a year to ensure you keep within the recommended range.
Thankyou, he has told me to take 1 x daily atm for 3 months of 1000 I think he recommended, my ferreton was also 37, so he told me to take iron daily aswell for 3 months, mainly wanted to check the vit d as didn't want to over do it.

1,000iu D3 daily is a maintenance dose for someone with a good level already, it will take some time to raise your level with such a dose. It's up to you what you do but if you are buying your own supplement then I would suggest an oil based D3 softgel such as Doctor's Best rather than a tablet or capsule. Vit D is fat soluble so needs some fat to be absorbed, that is provided in the oil based softgel, anything else should be taken with dietary fat, but tablets are the least absorbable of all Vit D supplements. D3 needs to be taken 4 hours away from thyroid meds.
Magnesium is needed because it helps the body convert D3 into it's usable form. It comes in different forms, check to see which would suit you best and as it's calming it's best taken in the evening, four hours away from thyroid meds if taking magnesium as tablets/capsules, no necessity if using topical forms of magnesium.

Magnesium needs to be taken 4 hours away from thyroid meds.
D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and Vit K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems such as hardening of the arteries, kidney stones, etc. Vit K2-MK7 is fat soluble so needs to be taken with some dietary fat, eg fatties meal of the day, or full fat yogurt, some cheese, toast and butter, etc. I like Vitabay or Vegavero of K2-MK7.
As he's told you to take iron tablets, these must be taken 4 hours away from thyroid meds and 2 hours away from any other medication supplements or their absorption will be avoided. He should retest your level after the 3 months.
