Biotin not to be taken before Medichecks bloods?

Hi All

I've booked a Medichecks Thyroid test for next Tuesday.

The message I have received says to omit Biotin for 2 days before the test.

I've done 8 Medichecks Thyroid tests over the last 2 years and this is the first time I've been advised to omit Biotin.

Any ideas please why this new requirement has been added on?

Thanks

It's not new. For some time now the following is included in their "Order complete" email they send:

Thyroid Monitoring Blood Test: Please take your sample in the morning. If you are taking a T3 containing medication take your test in the hour prior to your dose of medication. Do not take biotin supplements for 2 days prior to this test. If you are taking prescribed biotin you should discuss this with your doctor.
