Hello I’m having a barium swallow test today and the instructions say no eating or drinking 6 hours before the test.
I normally take my T3 about 3pm (right after test time) would you take it before with a tiny bit of water or should I wait a certain number of hours after the test to take it?
Thanks
Also in case anyone is interested yesterday my symptoms of T3 (tight chest, discomfort, palps) all of a sudden stopped Sunday and I’ve been able to finally increase dose slightly yesterday. I don’t want to get too hopeful, and I’m still going slowly but will provide update end of March post next blood test

I think I'd leave it until after. But I have never had to make that choice!
Barium swallows are well-established and the patient instructions will have been refined over the years. If they say no drinking, it will be based on the requirements of getting a good result.
I seem to remember that they allow you to take a mouthful of water then spit it out - if you are getting a dry mouth?
I thought I read small sips of water were allowed but looking at the instructions again I can’t see it. Water in and spat out is a good idea. I can probably cope with that as a one off.
Then afterwards shall I wait 2 hours? I might have to eat first as I’ll be starving ha ha.
