Hello

I was on 10mg of T3. My TSH.. Was 19.32 my gp increased it to 15mg..been on this for 4 weeks have noticed in 3rd week I have had server sweating, slight raised heartbeat, insomnia, back to scratching with welts on the skin server this past week.. I'm splitting the dose in to 3, I have slight hyper symptoms on being the skin problem, I had this when I had hyperthyroidism /graves.. This and the other conditions only present themselves when I increase the thyroid meds.. This is the 3rd time.. It seems I can't increase without having hyper symptoms the more the increase the worse the symptoms, I'm totally lost as to what's going on.. I was going to increase to 20mg but the hyper symptoms and the skin condition makes me not want to.. I have posted a picture of the skin condition

Thanks for any replys❤️❤️

I find I absolutely need both T4 and T3. My thyroid went completely south January, 2018 and I had to move to 75mcg T4. Ended up not making me feel much better so I found an endo who would prescribe T3. She started me on 75mcg T4 and 12mcg T3, wow, that was way too much. So I reduced down to 6mcg T3 with the same T4 dosage and was ok until October 2020, where I was feeling overmedicated. My free T3 had been steadily climbing on each subsequent blood test. I asked for a dose reduction in both T4 and T3 a couple of weeks ago. This reduction caused low, weak heart beat, hypoglycemia (I'm diabetic as well) and missing brain syndrome and this was just a week after reducing my meds. I calculated the amount of T4 hormone that I had missed over that week and took it in the afternoon . It was amazing how much that increase in T4 affected my brain and heart rate, the lights had come back on! I continued to take just 4mcg T3. This reduction in T3 to 4 mcg from 6 mcg has almost completely stopped my hot flashes and given me good glucose control so far. Your body really needs both. If you google what thyroid hormones your brain requires it's mostly T4. It can function on T3 only but it is soooo much better with both hormones.

There is a reason why your thyroid produces both T4 and T3. And honestly you don't need your T3 to be in the upper range to feel normal. Each person is unique in that respect. I'm better when my T3 is slightly above the lower part of the range to mid-range. Any higher and I feel very overmedicated.

Hi thanks for your reply,My TSH.. Was 19.32...thats high I'm in hypo, but my body is not telling me this I'm more hyper, everytime I've gone on either T4 or T3 after the 3/4 weeks I start with hyper symptoms, my surgeon put me on 175mg T4 after my TT.. That made me hyper he decreased it until I was eventually on 50mg which was still to much, but took me off as I was lactose intolerant, put me on T3.. 125mg lactose free... Same affect hyper.. Took me off them put me back on T4 25mg same affect.. Especially the skin problem, my other gp thought I had a bad reaction to synthetic medication I can't take, antibiotics, inflamitory meds, aspirin, and a load of others, but that gp has now left our surgery, I did ask about a combination of T3, and T4.. But gp poo poo it saying stay on T3 at 15mg now for 6 weeks, only got in to my 3rd week and noticed the hyper symptoms creaping back in, now in 4th week the skin rash is back... 😩😩😩😩😩

I think you need an endocrinologist if you are still having problems. I think Tirosint is a liquid form of T4 which shouldn't have any fillers. I get my T3 compounded in a slow release formula as I could definitely not tolerate the standard cytomel. It all hits your blood stream within 3 to 5 hours, making you feel EXTREMELY overmedicated during that time. I also crashed in the afternoon after I took my morning dose. If I took two T3 doses the second dose interfered with my sleep. The slow release is perfect for me.
