Protein powder alone will not stop weight loss but will reduce muscle wastage, I use pea and rice protein from bulk powders, gluten and milk free. ☺

I’m another fan of Bulk Powders ( just search online using those words) I like their pea protein as it’s not sweet. Some of the flavoured powders taste artificial ( to me) but if you can get a coconut flavoured ones it’s delicious. I think with thyroid problems you don’t want soy powder but check this as I might be wrong.

Hi if your not vegetarian buy there beef protein. My recipe is 5 figs, 1 can full fat coconut milk, same can full of water, 4 scoops beef protein in a blender, makes about 2 pints. I have a pint for breakfast most days put the rest in fridge it will solidify but easy to eat with a spoon. Not the best tasting but you get used to it and it does the job.

I use pulsin pea protein powder. I don't get on well with whey and I don't like soya. Pea protein is also quite affordable compared to the other options.

Hi. Mass Gainers are what the protein powders are called. They typically have just over 1,000 calories per serve. They are high in carbs of those carbs how much is sugar I don’t know. You would have to look online and compare the mass gainers to either whey, plant or pea proteins. These proteins are what I call skinny proteins. You get 24 grams protein, 2 grams of carbs, 2 grams of fat and 24 grams of protein. Typically. Plant proteins can be gritty. Whey has dairy. Most are gluten free. It’s all personal choice. I hope this helps in some way. I’ve been a bodybuilder and I wonder how your appetite is? If you are hungry you could eat your calories. For example chicken and rice, steak and potatos. One shake I always made was

1 scoop of protein

1 frozen banana

500 mls of water

6 ice cubes

Mix in a NutriBullet
