Normal TSH 1.4, low free T4 10.
My 12 year old daughter had the above results at the end of August - what do these mean? I am still waiting for guidance from my GP who doesn't know whether they should be repeated, she should be referred to paediatrics or she should be referred to endocrinology. She has recently been diagnosed with ASD and ADHD. I suffered with Graves thyrotoxicosis and thryoid acropachy and am very concerned re my daughter. Thanks for any guidance/thoughts...
Well just testing TSH and Ft4 is completely inadequate
Ask GP to test thyroid antibodies for hypothyroid autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto’s) and vitamins
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if cause is autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
