Arthritis and hypothyroid

Anyone heard of flare of osteoarthritis from mild hypothyroidism? Thx for comments/experience.

Oh, that's interesting. Can't advise you, but I have hypothyroidism and osteoarthritis, especially in my hands, which definitely comes and goes. That is, I usually have it, but there was a couple of months recently when it was a lot better. Then it came back. I've had mild hand pain for years, but it got dramatically worse after a flu virus in March (probably not C-19), and improved recently only to get bad again. I thought reducing refined carbs had done the trick, but I am still on that diet. I also took more magnesium and vit D, but now I wonder if my hypothyroidism might be involved. Due to Covid, I'm not being tested.

Yes, Im hypothyroidism and developed psoriatic arthritis and osteo of the knee!

Yes. I’m starting to wonder if there’s a link! I’m mildly hypo currently and my knees and even my hip started hurting!! Thanks for your response!!!

There are scholarly articles about hypothyroidism and increased occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders - the two are definitely linked -

Hi, I have under active thyroid & been suffering joint pain for couple of years it’s got progressively worse & today got the results of my MRI scan I too have osteoarthritis in lower lumber area causing pain in back & hips, pain is constantly there now & prevents me from sleeping, I definitely think symptoms are linked 😒😟
