Iodine salt pipe

Hi, I've just read about the issue with iodine and hypothyroidism. So I'm waiting for more tests but initial ones indicate central hypothyroidism and apart from weight gain, I have a lot of symptoms. Thinking I may have covid 19 in the spring, I followed advice on Dr Myhills website about iodine inhalation in a salt pipe for a few days, (gave me horrid throat pain) and taking vit c (l-ascorbic acid powder) to bowel tolerance. She says these are totally safe to do. I am generally often unwell with other issues but remember having the chills and losing weight continuously for ages after some odd symptoms. I briefly became borderline underweight despite always hungry.

My question is- can I have done any serious damage taking the iodine?

Doubtful if you only used it for a few days.

Thank you for your reply and reassurance. I was suddenly alarmed about what I had done, after reading about iodine and hypothyroidism. This is all very new to me.

I used to take chlorella regularly many years ago, about the time when a lot of my hormonal issues and symptoms worsened, so I've been wondering about that too.

If you were just using 1 drop of Lugols iodine in a salt pipe for a few minutes each day, I doubt you'd have done any damage. Remember as children we used to have iodine plastered on every cut and graze and most of us went on to live unremarkable lives from the health point of view.

Yes, that stuff burned! So did mercurochrome. Bactine was a wonderful invention. Antiseptic that didn't burn like Hades.

I'd never used it before, my mum just put Savlon on when I was young. We joked that she would most likely try and heal a broken leg with it!
