Hello all. Has anyone started the liquid levo and noticed any side effects?? I am on (Mercury farmer) UK brand.
Liquid/oral levo side effects : Hello all. Has... - Thyroid UK
Liquid/oral levo side effects
Some people find they cannot take the substantial amount of glycerol they contain.
This might not be what has been described in medical literature as "glycerol intolerance", but a lesser issue. Sufficient to make taking levothyroxine oral solutions an unsatisfactory option.
What as in horrible taste?
Can I ask what side effects you are experiencing?
I had the tevo liquid with the glycerol with awful side effects, severe bloating and cramps
I think all levothyroxine oral solutions are based on glycerol.
Levothryoxine is almost insoluble in neutral and acidified water. The underlying process of making them consists of dissolving the levothyroxine in an alkaline solution. Then mixing that with glycerol - it stays in solution. Finally, adding some acid to neutralise the alkali. Amazingly, the levothyroxine still remains in solution.

This is a list of currently marketed levothyroxine oral solutions in the UK.
Please note that re-branding (whether by a manufacturer or as an ‘own label supplier’ - which has happened with several products) does not mean any change to formulation.

I take Levothyroxine liquid. I’m on Ten Pharma. I used to be on Wockhardt but the product was recalled and still pending licensing.
I have no issues with it. The only thing I’d say is that Teva brand is not tolerated by many tablets or liquid. Try taking a different brand. Ten Pharma for me works well.
Hello. I'm in France and have been on 15 drops of levothyroxine [SERB pharmaceuticals] for the past three weeks. This is a trial to see if I'm absorbing the equivalent of 75mcg tablet. I haven't noticed any change at all but I get tested after two months. The problem? NDT was the only one that made a big difference!
I take mine and then wash it down with water. That's still OK??
I was useless with that. My fingers don't do intricate or delicate as too stiff.
The Guardian has a current article about the difficulties some have with syringes.
Tries to be light-hearted and amusing but the underlying issue is (of course) serious. Quite a lot of comments - which include quite a bit that might be of interest.
I am on mercury pharma. Is not part of Teva?
