Increased levothyroxine, anxiety

Hi everyone, sorry to post again. After speaking to my GP she agreed to up my dose of levothyroxine from 75mcg to 100mcg, I’m on my third day of increase and my anxiety has increased dramatically and my mood has also dropped but mood could be down to having to self isolate for a week alone. Is it normal to get increased anxiety until your body gets used to the increased dose? I also feel more fatigued can this happen as well?

Are you on same brand of levothyroxine as before?

Increased anxiety is pretty common when initially increase dose

If it becomes unbearable you could reduce the dose increase to 75mcg and 100mcg on alternate days

Have you had coeliac blood test results yet

Changing to strictly gluten free diet can sometimes reduce anxiety too

Yeah same brand just added 25mcg of same tablets until I get the 100mcg tablets as I’m away at the moment.

I’m just trying to take my mind off it but not easy when I’m isolating.

My coeliac blood test came back negative and I do try to avoid foods altogether that contain gluten, I tend to eat from scratch.

Gluten free does need to be absolutely strictly gluten free to be effective

Dose increase in levothyroxine usually takes 4-6 weeks to kick in

I’ll have to eliminate everything.

I think I’ll just have to wait it out until I get tested again unless it becomes unbearable.

So many people on levothyroxine take probiotics? Just my GP recommended them for bloating?

Bloating can be low stomach acid/gluten intolerance

Probiotics can help improve gut function

I’m so tempted to go back down to 75mcg I’ve just had two panic attacks, or at least that’s what I think it was, heart rate went up to 143 and slowed down again within 10 mins if that. I haven’t had this for months.
