Stem Cell Treatment for Hashimoto's?

In my desperation of trying to figure out how to make myself feel better with Hashimoto's I started looking into stem cell treatments. I was wondering if anyone on this forum had experience with it or know someone who has. Most seem to be based in Mexico because stem cell treatments are still largely illegal to practice in first world countries but I am keeping an open mind. It's obviously expensive but who can put a price on your future? I figure money can be made back by a healthy person, maybe more than you can make limping along as a sick one. Anyway I wanted to do some due diligence with this treatment before having a serious look at it. This one in particular is geared towards Hashimoto's: dreambody.clinic/index.php/...

Not finding any reviews on it at all or success stories, what have you. Most stem cell places grow the stem cells from your own fat so it works better (there have been odd cases of people growing noses in the spine because the cells came from somewhere else). This place doesn't grow cells from fat but takes them from a placenta so seems a little riskier?

I had contacted a clinic in Texas that does it (treatment is still in Mexico) that does it through fat cells and it is $30000USD for them to do everything. The person I talked to cited a case where a woman had CFS and/or Hashis and vastly improved on first injection, cured on the second. I'll take that with a grain of salt as that seemed to be the only case they could provide.

Any success stories out there?

I would be very careful going down this route as there is very little research on the subject for thyroid treatment I had a good look for you and this is the best I can find on the subject.

So does the stem cell treatment repair the thyroid? If so you will still have the autoimmune disease that destroys the thyroid and the cycle will start again.

OK I have now read the summary of treatment. What they seem to be offering is treatment which will stop your immune system attacking your thyroid.

They then suggest that recovery is possible.

However what they don't mention is the fact that your thyroid will have already been damaged by hashis so I do doubt the claim of recovery. If your thyroid is damaged and not producing enough hormones you will still need replacement hormones.

Right, interesting, thanks for looking at it. I'm a year into this thing but having some brutal symptoms so I'm not sure the amount of damage that has been done. The hormone pills are not helping at all, in fact they may be even worse which is why I'm looking at alternatives.

The reason that many of us are on here is that we have had brutal symptoms and have had to rake the initiative. A lot of us are doing our own thing with hormones to manage our condition.

I was housebound and spent a lot of time in bed feeling very ill for 18 months with this condition. I am only now getting some life back.

If you have blood results post them on here with ranges and we will help.

Thanks, yeah I've posted my ranges in another post and people have been helpful, unfortunately the treatment doesnt seem to help at all.

Getting life back, you think that is because of treatment or are things generally improving? I get exhausted and feel like garbage just walking around the block, would be encouraging to know that I might feel a little better one day...

I have been 9 months on a combination of levo and liothyronine and it is that mix that has given me life again. I am not able to do all I want to yet but I can do so much more than being stuck in bed.

Hang in there.

Dr Coimbra is in Brazil (hopefully avoiding Covid-19) and treats autoimmune conditions with vitamin D (an immune regulator); there are loads of things on the internet about him. I know that he uses vitamin D successfully with fibromyalgia but have not read of Hashimoto’s.

Many years before I was diagnosed I was suffering with a lot of symptoms ( brainfog, muscle pain and weakness, fatigue and exhaustion etc. ). I went to functional medicine doctors because I had no answers from regular MD's. They told me for years before my Thyroid tests came back positive for Hashimoto's that what I had was autoimmune related caused by inflammation, and to first get off gluten. I did and felt so much better. I then eliminated dairy, also better. Then I was told to go on the autoimmune diet, felt even better. A lot of the symptoms appear to be autoimmune related and inflammation related. If you haven't been to a functional medicine or natural medicine doctor who looks for the cause of the autoimmunity first. Maybe that will help you as it has many others. You can find info on the internet and there are many books on the autoimmune diet. I know you are desperate to feel well, but 30,000 on something that may be snake oil treatment may not be the first route to take.

Appreciate the opinion. Yes, I am following a similar path to you with removing inflammatory food from my diet. I have a book that I have been trying to follow that seems to have helped a bit but hard to quantify how much because I am also gradually increasing my thyroid pill dose as I am still out of range. From what I've gathered, inflammation appears to be the key to everything seeing as I also have bowel issues. It all seems to start at the gut...
